I'd give it an 8 or 9/10 for now. I really liked it. Thought it was well-made and well-acted on all fronts. I normally hate CGI but it's well-done here and the action scenes are intense and exciting. Surely the Golden Gate Bridge sequence should be among the best action scenes of the year. The movie even had me teary-eyed during the moment where

the Gorilla died.

Great movie, overall. I've never seen the past POTA movies, but after seeing this I definitely want to track them down.

I keep reading about a mid-credits scene,What is it and does it tease at a sequel or what???

It doesn't really show anything that people couldn't have inferred from the film itself, but in brief:
We see Patient One of the viral plague that attacks humans enter an airport (he's a pilot), and then we get a really nifty graphic showing the infection crisscrossing the globe along airline routes until humanity is well and truly ****ed.:awesome:

Can someone tell me if the Ape/Human battles are truly well done?

I'd like to thank Andy Serkis for one of the most touching performances I have seen in a good long time.

Wow .

Caught it earlier, and it was very well done. Did anyone else freak out when
Caesar actually spoke?
Some dude in the audience, which is par for the course, yelled out "oh hell naw!"

Yes, it kindof caught me off guard. I didn't know whether I liked it or not it was just so 'pronounced' I guess you could say..

Loved, loved, loved this movie. Props to Andy Serkis for his wonderful performance. This man deserves an Oscar!

My entire audience's jaws pretty much collectively dropped when he shouted "NOOOOOO!!!!!". You could practically hear a pin drop from the silence. One of the guys right beside me uttered, "Holy s**t!" It was awesome. :woot:

Wait, there was an end credit scene?

[BLACKOUT]I can't wait to GIF the facial reaction of the gorillas after Caesar spoke...So many uses![/BLACKOUT]

I liked the movie so much, I caught it twice in one day! The CGI wasn't perfect as a whole but it was damn good--it definitely had more than a handful of moments which I think, will hold up as being some of the best CGI animation ever put on film. I put it on #13 on my best movies of the year, which is saying a lot since I've seen 55 movies from 2011. I think it's been the biggest surprise of the year..

This movie is without a doubt the biggest surprise of the year. Great movie. Andy deserves the best actor nomination and I think this movie is going to make them reconsider the rules.

Haven't seen it yet, but with all these great reactions I can't wait. Also awesome to see it have such a great weekend. Deadline is reporting $50million, maybe more.

I read $19 million yesterday, that's a damn good start.

Seeing it tomorrow, can't wait.

This special effects featurette is awesome:

Saw this yesterday, and I absolutely loved it. The story was really well done and touching, the cgi was breathtaking, and the acting was great. Andy Serkis put so much humanity, emotion, and life into Caesar. He really does deserve an oscar for that performance. I give this film a 10/10. I know that no film is perfect, but I can't think of anything that didn't work for me. A sequel is something I most certainly want to see, and I hope Andy is back as Caesar. Have to throw a shout out to the Orangutan. A great supporting character to have along side Caesar.

4/5, good movie with relative amount of cliche and exploration of some of the most significant existentialist ideas. Hope sequel will follow.

Seeing this tonight hopefully, looking forward to it.

This film is one of many that proves you should not judge it nor especially it's future based on small info and a teaser,There were some so convinced 100%that this was going to fail/bomb so hard and be one of the worst of the year!!

Finding it bad or good though is all opinions,But it is getting critical acclaim/praise and even many critics&fans are even going as far as saying"one of the best/THE best film of the year"and"Oscar worthy".....Now it did pretty good for it's opening day and yeah things could change in the next few weeks But so far it sure ain't looking like a fail/bomb at all!!

Now what I'm curious about is what do critics&fans rank this film in the rest of the PLOTA series!?

I cant wait to talk more about this film but i have to wait til i get a computer. I will say when Ceasar has his big moment with Tom Felton, i looked around and just about everyone's jaw was dropped

Enormously affecting film--the best of the series since the original.

yep i agree i saw Rise today, its at number 2 behind the original film..the movie has heart and then good action towards the end. Ceasar is awesome as well of the supporting apes and franco, pinto and especially John Lithgow are very good.
