Rob Zombie to resurrect The Munsters!

Maybe it will be a grim and gritty realistic family drama. :o

I seriously hope he knows this should be family friendly. Nobody wants an R-rated Munsters movie.
Well, I mean... certainly not Rob Zombie’s version of an R-rated Munsters movie.

Someone like GDT, though? Sign me up.

EXCLU: Rob Zombie Set to Helm 'THE MUNSTERS' Film for Universal - Murphy's Multiverse -

Hope it remains a straight-up comedy. Still, Zombie is FAMOUSLY a huge fan of the show, so fingers-crossed it's not another Mockingbird Lane situation!
Zombie was also famously a huge fan of Halloween and look how that turned out.

But something tells me this is going to be more like an indie project considering his wife is playing Lily (because of course she is :whatever:) and Jeff Daniel Phillips is playing Herman. Movie stars they ain't.

Fair. A fun R-rated Munsters. Not an uncomfortable R-rated Munsters.

According to Dread Central, Universal's distributing it. And I'm SURE they'll have him on a leash and will have other recognizable names in there somewhere.

Rob Zombie Working on New THE MUNSTERS Movie

Uhhh what? This should be interesting.

Zombie's brand just doesn't fit. Gonna love Herman in a wife beater, getting into a drunken argument with his wife. But hey, any chance for Rob to show off how hot his wife is....

I think this is just funny and I'm all for It. I'm 33 and I never really cared bout the Munster's like its some forbidden fruit. If anything this is the sort of thing I wanna see even if I'm not particularly a fan of zombies work.

I can see why he's a fan. That family aspect plays a big role in his movies. I don't want to just assume they'll be white trash idiots. But you don't really hire Rob Zombie to tone it down. A part of me hopes there's some balance because it's The Munsters. But we'll see I guess.

I never saw the movie, but Eli Roth did direct a family movie not too long ago aswell, so I guess Rob Zombie getting picked for this isn't too out of the box, especially if he's a huge fan of the show.

I just don't want to see Sheri Moon Zombie as one of the leads in this or even a supporting role honestly because I'm just not a fan of her as an actress.

I get the feeling he will though since the majority of her roles are from films he's directed and I'm definitely not looking forward to that, but hopefully it ends up still being good.

I've got some bad news...

Two of Zombie’s usual suspects have been cast as leads in the comedy with Jeff Daniel Phillips set as Herman Munster and Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, set as Lily Munster.

Yeah I just saw that which bums me out, but seeing that Richard Brake is apart of the cast and in a major role did cheer me up somewhat, so that's something I guess. Now, that guy is awesome IMO.

If they rope him in with a light pg-13 it may be fine. You have to realize that the core of the characters is that they genuinely feel like normal suburbanites and while their activities are weird they aren't trying to hurt anybody. Except maybe grandpa on occasion since he's kind of a jerk at times.

I like Rob Zombie. I’m a fan of his music but his movies have been hit or miss with me. I know that he’s a huge Munsters fan so I am interested to see his take on this project

But will it be family friendly like the original show or will this be some crazy bat s**t take that only Zombie can come up with?

Like TS said, I hope it will be a comedy. If he wants to make something dark, then I'd rather he call it something different.

I love Robs music, and have been a fan for years, but I feel like none of his films have aged well. Even Devils Rejects, for me, is just good enough. I would love for him to do something different with The Munsters though so I'll keep an open mind. I just want it to feel different than his last films because they all feel same in a way.

This is a pairing.
