What I want to know is how much weed was consumed in writing this and how much cocaine was running through the studio exec who greenlit this?

I'm gonna have to assume that Robbie Williams is way more popular in the UK and Europe to warrant this movie even existing at all, chimp or no chimp. Because here in the US, the only songs I remember of his really making it big were "Angels" and "Millennium" and both of those were well over 20 years ago.

I don't think the reviews are going to help much in the US. We just don't care about Robbie Williams over here. Just like the metric system.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, why did they even bother with anything more than a limited release in the US? Robbie Williams may be a lot more popular in Europe but that isn't going to magically make Americans interested in him all of a sudden just because he has a unique biopic.

$25 million for distribution rights isn't a lot for a studio like Paramount on paper but I'm sure they spent even more on marketing. I can't tell you how many paid advertisements I've seen from TikTokers raving about this movie but they never go into detail. They just say the most generic stuff about it like "hits all the emotional beats!" and "everything you'd want from a music biopic!" and of course the comment section sees right through them.

I feel like you need a more well known artist to make an off-the-wall approach like this work for a wide audience.

Then again, a Bowie biopic where he’s a mocap alien might just put people off, so who the hell knows…

I tried watching that Better Man movie twice now and this time the theater I went to only had one showtime and shocker... they showed Mufasa instead and they didn't have the movie on their server.

So I got a free ticket instead.
