No argument from me. Just trying to figure out the least terrible.Still a terrible idea.
What if 616's Tony Stark was a Doom variant? The one who turned out good.
Demon in an amour, they switch bodies so technically everyone views him as VictorI'm actually taking the Russos' word for it that he'll be Victor. My guess is that he wont be a Stark variant and they'll just explain the resemblance as being just a quirk of the multiverse. They'll without a doubt use the identical physical appearance to score drama points with the 616 characters though.
Somehow, you managed to go backwards, and screw up expectations. Bravo, Kevin!
Susan and I were sitting down with Feige at one point and he said, 'It just keeps occurring to me that if you were to come back...' and Susan was like, 'Wait, wait, come back as what?' Then we both realised over time that it was another thing that just disproves any doubt anyone could ever have about that guy, a very sophisticated creative thinker, about how can we not go backwards, how can we not disappoint expectations, how we can continue to beat expectations? And he brought up Victor Von Doom. I looked up this character and I was like, 'Wow.' Later, Kevin goes, 'Let’s get Victor Von Doom right. Let's get that right.'
The first reactions were pretty polarized , at best .I wonder if Feige genuinely thought this choice would be well received by the fans.
Feige doesn't care. He cares about getting casuals back in the seats. Not fans complainingI wonder if Feige genuinely thought this choice would be well received by the fans.
But few, if any, are doubting RDJ's acting prowess or questioning whether he could do it based on past roles. We know the man is talented and could easily give a good performance, no matter if people don't like the casting decision."Michael Keaton can't play Batman! He's Mr. Mom!"
"Heath Ledger can't play The Joker! He's a pretty boy who played a gay cowboy!"
This is why I take all the salt regarding RDJ playing Doom with more than a grain of salt.
Right, I think some people are confusing the criticism as RDJ can't act the role. I have no doubts in RDJ's abilities to play Dr. Doom. My issues are with the decision making behind the scenes that led to this happening. But few, if any, are doubting RDJ's acting prowess or questioning whether he could do it based on past roles. We know the man is talented and could easily give a good performance, no matter if people don't like the casting decision.
It's more why was this baffling decision made in the first place?
