Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. talks Iron Man

It´s great to see his excitement about playing the role. I suspect by the time the movie is released he´ll have won over most of the skeptics - hey, if Michael Keaton did it, how come Downey Jr can´t?

RDJ should not be as hard for fans to accept as keaton was

he FITS THE ROLE, hes great, perfect. ONLY thing is age... but that can be overlooked with makeup etc he will have on, he will look 35.

fans that dont liek this, really just need to look at the past... hell. Keaton, Routh, the unknown Jackman,

stuff like that... 90% of the time, the actor cast for the hero will blow you outta the park... in a more recent case, Nic Cage as ghost rider (said to be wonderful)

unless you cast Opera as Spiderman, fans should not complain at all.

In Favreau I Trust (i dunno about you guys)

How old is RDJ btw?

I believe he is turning 42 in April. And it is about time we heard from the Downey. I am glad he is excited about it and doesn't act snooty about being in a comic book movie.

It's really good to see that he's excited about the role, as well as the film.

He sounds like a kid in a candy store. :) It's good he's excited because he really needs to stay pumped for those long grueling hours in harnesses and make-up chairs and all that jazz.

He probably read the reactions on Ledgers "I hate Comicbooks"-comment, so he decided to assimilate to his audience a little better:woot:

Still, he is grateful that the $100 million production will be shot entirely in California, allowing him to stay close to his wife and the rest of a support network that includes a shrink, a sensei and assorted healing therapists.

haha only in hollywood, but if it works for him that alright

His dedication and enthusiasm is great to hear:up:

More RDJ on Iron Man

In next year's 'Iron Man' movie, actor Robert Downey Jr. will play Marvel's superhero who battles villains and alcoholism. When asked how the actor would draw from his own history of substance abuse Downey said, "You know, I'm not the poster boy for anything anymore," he boasts. "I don't f---ing relate to that time in my life. Because it is something that I transcended, somehow, with really a lot of f---ing love and support."

Later in the article, the author describes seeing: a model of Iron Man, dressed in a prototype of the costume he will soon don. In a mock-defensive voice, Downey explains that the shield-shaped emblem on Iron Man's chest, which looks a lot like Superman's S, will certainly be changed so as not to be so reminiscent of that other "much, much less important superhero."

Asked how much input he had on the costume, with its rippling muscles and bulging codpiece, Downey pulls a face that says, Let me level with you, kid.

"To tell you the truth, I have primary input," he deadpans, with an arched eyebrow to emphasize that every bulge beneath Iron Man's heroic costume is real. "You might say I'll be filling the role."

These are some really great interviews that drive the point that he has a passion for the character, as well as heroes in general, and is really involved. I think the director and star are very good choices, and they'll do the film proud.
