Hella. Terrence Howard pwns.

Almost as much as Ironman actually.

Which is almost as much as me.

I don't get why most pepole are complaining, 2 great actors have been casted for Ironman, which could make a possible amazing adaption on the big screen!!

I know these are the characters you've grown up with and want to look the part very much!!! But I rather have 2 great actors who I wouldn't expect to play these roles, than 2 horrible actors who look the part!!:cwink:

When/if they get into the alcoholism thing RDJ should be brilliant. And Howard is perfect in case they decide to do a War Machine spin-off.

We could have had both. There are great actors out there who look more like Stark than Downey, and more like Rhodey than Howard. But what's done is done.

there should be another announcement soon

i like howard hes a great actor. his part in crash was just great.
and he doesnt really look the part of rhodes simply because he has light skin. if we were going stricktly on looks i would go with the actor that played spawn in the movie i dont recall his name, but hes quite a good actor as well. but all in all i am pleased that howard was offered.

I remember Favreau saying (in other words) War Machine will not be in this film but is should be in the sequel should the first film be a success.

A couple of casting calls that went out recently:

Breakdown-- General Gabriel: 50s. A commanding officer with enormous presence. Although he can appear cold, he is in fact complex and thoughtful with a strong moral center; Yinsen: 50s-70s, character could be from the Middle East, Afghanistan, or Pakistan. A mercurial character who has many talents but keeps to himself and shows little. At first he appears severe, but later reveals he has a great sense of humor, dignity, and fearlessness; Raza: 30s-50s, a Middle Eastern character. An intense lead insurgent in Afghanistan, who speaks an indigenous tongue and English; Gene Kahn: 30s-40s, Central Asian, handsome, impeccably dressed. A renaissance man for the new millennium, he has been educated on three continents, is just as familiar with Machiavelli as Sun Tzu; Female Reporter: Late 20s-30s. Pretty but tough, she's an intellectual and fast-talking reporter who tries to outwit Tony, only to find herself a bit beguiled by his charms. (Posted: January 11, 2007)

Nice post Miranda Fox, that gives us more insight into the story.

Although, I do have a question on how reliable their info is, the reason I say this, is under that cast section, they have listed Robert Downey Jr. ,Terrence Howard and Femke Janssen, now I believe Femke said she had no interest in the movie and would not be in it, Jon Favreau also said she would not be in the cast, of course Mr. Favreau has said several things about Iron Man that he later did.

Gene Kahn? The way he's described, he sounds like the Zhang Tong businessman-persona of Mandarin. I just hope they don't ape BB and have Mandarin be a bootleg Ra's.

I've used that site for character information before - on that front, it's reliable. ;) Sometimes the people submitting the info don't have all the facts re: plot and cast is all. But the actual casting calls come from the right people.

I agree, it seems like thats what their going for, the business front of Mandarin type, it does seem like a Batman Begins rip.

Howard is preparing for Iron Man in Vegas. Not sure what to make of this piece.El-Tee? PT?

From yeharr:

More cool news from Vegas: Tomorrow the El-Tee will be leading his squad in PT. He does that all the time, but tomorrow, one of the guys in his squad will be Terrence Howard, who's getting into character for his upcoming role as Jim Rhodes in the Iron Man movie.* The top brass wanted to make sure he got a good workout, so they picked my son. Yes, I'm bragging.

Time for bed.

*For those who aren't cool enough to be Marvel Geeks: Jim Rhodes is the Air Force test pilot that inventor Tony Stark hires, ostensibly to be his pilot/bodyguard, but he also was Iron Man for a while when Stark was battling his alcoholism. Now, Rhodes has a similar suit as Stark, and goes by War Machine.

The blogger's son's name is Lt. Trouble and is in the Air Force... the 'Trouble' may be a pseudonym, but there's your El-tee. TH was going to Vegas to learn to fly fighters for his role - I think the guy is saying his son is leading his Air Force squad in physical training, and has a famous guest?

Regardless, nice find :)

nice find, I read over at imdb.com, a poster name airman, saying he meet Terrance the other day and he was being trained as a Air Force Parajumper, which if you don't know, Air Force Parajumpers are Medics who use Helicopters or transport planes to literally jump out of to help injured Pilots or soldiers, there the most heavily trained and specialized unit in the Air Force.

Aah..so he's training with the Air Force. Thanks for clarifying that guys:)

‘Iron Man’ pilot to hit big screen

The Air Force is getting another big screen role in a fantasy world.

As production begins on the movie version of Marvel’s “Iron Man” comic book series, the role of Air Force Lt. Col. James Rhodes is being played by Terrence Howard.

Howard was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar in 2006 for his role in “Hustle and Flow” as a small-town pimp trying to find success as a rapper. The same year, he played a television producer in the Best Picture Oscar winner, “Crash.”

Howard spent March 16 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., getting a close look at HH-60G Pave Hawk rescue helicopters and the F-22A Raptor as well as having lunch with airmen.

The movie’s storyline is being kept quiet, but in the comic book series, Rhodes was a Vietnam War helicopter pilot who befriended Iron Man’s creator, Tony Starke, in the jungles of Vietnam.

In the comics Rhodes has occasionally worn Iron Man’s armor, and also fought comic villains under the moniker War Machine.

The role of Starke went to Robert Downey Jr.
