Kevin Reynolds's action adventure was released in US cinemas on June 14, 1991.
 
Good effort but nothing will ever be better than the Errol Flynn version, at least to me. The best part of Costner's version was Alan Rickman as the Sheriff, even though his acting style made it seem like he was from a different movie.
 
I've loved this since I first saw it. I remember watching it at school when I was in grade 6.
 
As entertaining as he was, Rickman was basically playing a cartoon villain the whole time, there's no way around it. It really seemed like he was in the wrong movie.

It was fun to watch.
I always wondered though why Robin Hood spoke with a mid-western accent from U.S.A.
