RoboCop Reboot

Agreed with every thing you wrote. It's bad movie but I like the scenes with the Robot Cain. Tippet did an excellent job with the Stop motion and the Cain related action scenes were good. There was no redeeming value to the 3rd film.

Oh yea Cain was an awesome villain, i thought the design of him was cool too. And yea the action scenes are great.

The ninjas weren't even cool and they turned Robocop into a full fledged dumb ass children's movie. It was awful, you should never watch it.

It seems like nobody even understood what made Robocop and great and iconic film.

It's simple really, the movie had an airtight script and the actual film had no fat on it. The direction is fantastic, the robot design is wonderful, the pacing is great and the performances are all good and the satire is actually funny and dead on. And the score is phenomenal in every way.

It's not just some dumb movie about a guy in a bulky suit.

Agreed, the first one is a classic, though I do find the ending a little underwhelming simply because I wanted to see a full-out battle between Robo and ED-209. Still an awesome movie that will be tough to remake. But I think they've got a good Murphy in Kinnaman and I like the approach they're taking, making it more technical and showing you how to actually create a Robocop. It will be polarizing no matter what for some fans, but you know, what can you do.

Also, fans of Robocop should check out this funny video from the awesome Jon Lajoie:

^I think that the ending is perfect as ED 209 was never his foe anyway. It was just a dumb robot so blowing him up made since to me.

I still don't want this remake but to each his own.

Not liking how I read robocop will be more human and show his eyes.

That truly was horrendous. The kid goes round murdering people, including cops. Selling drugs that kill people. And overall just being a really despicable person. Then they try and make his death all tragic and sappy? Just because he's a kid? I took that as a direct insult aimed at my intelligence.

And the writers seemed to completely forget what happened in the first movie, in terms of Robo finding his humanity etc.

Horrible, horrible film.

EXACTLY. The second movie completely spit in the face of the original and everything it stood for.

When I asked how much of him we were actually going to be able to see, Kinnaman didn't hesitate.

"We'll see me," he promises. "The visor's gonna be see-through. It's going to be much more of a human performance. There's not going to be any twitchy robot [he mimics very mechanical robotic moves]. Our vision of how a robot is going to be in 2046, it's going to be a very human skin, it's gonna look very human. I'm going to be able to put my signature on the body language, too. The first 'RoboCop' movie is one of my favorite movies. I've seen that movie probably 15 or 20 times. But from an acting standpoint, walking around just moving your jaw, it's not so interesting. So this is going to be an opportunity to really bring a full performance to it."

-wow. This just doesn't sound like RoboCop to me. And is he dissing Weller's performance? Waking around just moving your jawm its not interesting? Seriously? Doesnt he know the dedication and prep Weller did to deliver an iconic performance in the original? Good job Joel whoever you are. You just f*$#@d with the wrong guy.

Its been awhile since Ive seen Robocop, but did they remove every organic part of Murphy except for his head? Everything else was machine?

 (Yeah that's right)

I dont know what to feel now :/ I mean, I hope he doesnt look like a human 100% He has to have some metal on his body at least! :(

Sounds like we're gonna get a Terminator instead of a Robocop.

That sounds full of fail.

That guys second from last sentence doesn't give me much hope. He doesn't understand the subtleties of acting.

I'm not raging. But yea, the line

But from an acting standpoint, walking around just moving your jaw, it's not so interesting.

Is pure idiocy and says to me he doesn't really know much about acting.

Come'on man, let's get real here. RoboCop wasn't Taxi Driver.

No. But there is more to the performance of Weller than just moving his jaw.

I mean what, was Hugo Weavings performance in V for Vendetta uninteresting because we couldn't see his face for the entire movie? This Kinnaman guy doesn't have a clue.

Hugo Weaving spoke a **** ton of awesome dialogue though.

I know "Drop It" is classic but come'on man.

Weaving's performance wasn't just about the dialogue though. It was about body language more than anything. Like Weller's performance.

Ok where to start.

I've been pretty supportive of this movie so far because I really liked what I saw from Padilha directing talent in the "Tropa De Elite" movies.

But this new little snippet in bold has got me a bit concerned. If he means it's literally going to be a guy with basically human skin and a somewhat futuristic suit with a helmet and a see through visor, well that would be downright awful.

I hope he's trying to describe something akin to the exoskeletons in Crysis because that's as far as I'm willing to play this game of "acceptance" until it strays so far off base it's not even worth being called Robocop.

I'm still excited because of the director but if the look of Robocop is something completely tame and visually that of a normal looking guy who the audiences is just supposed to buy as being a cyborg because of his nifty see through visor and helmet yet has a normal human looking body and jumpsuit would render this project already somewhat of a failure. I hope that's not the case though.

Calm down. Have you seen even Kinnaman act? I'm pretty sure he knows a little something about acting. Not interesting for him. That was fine for the period and for Weller but not for Kinnaman.

Hell, what you see as interesting he may not see as interesting. He needs to do what he is able to do as an actor to bring this new version to life.

I know and respect that he needs to bring his own take to the character. But i just think that line he said is completely ignorant and a little disrespectful. The **** Weller went through for that role was insane.

I agree. I think it's fine he wants to bring his own thing to the film. But it really sounds like he missed the point of the entire original film. He wants to make Robocop very human right from the start in appearance. Gutting out any inner battle that came from being so disconnected from society. If he already looks human, it's not even a big deal anymore...and that misses the entire point.
