RoboCop Reboot

Who's to say detroit would be setting this time. They could change up locations. As for shooting it in us its all about tax breaks and finding locations. If anything probably would end up in canada, or maybe out in europe.

no Clarence as the bad guy though

this is a reboot, so just make an all new villain.

I'm usually open to characters being recast, but the one character I just wouldn't accept another version of is Clarence Boddicker, above all else. I'd rather see a new Michael Corleone.

It'll be hard getting another Clarence Boddicker as good as Kurtwood Smith, but hopefully they'll get someone good and worthy enough to succeed him.

Here's a new interview where Padilha basically mentions how the media took the mention of Fassbender more literal than how he had intended: http://www.movieline.com/2011/09/jo...-robocop-and-those-fassbender-rumors.php#more

You gave an interview in which you mentioned you’d like Michael Fassbender for the lead.
I love Fassbender, but that’s a funny thing. I love a lot of actors and I was giving this interview for a Dutch newspaper because The Enemy Within was opening in Holland, and the guy was like, ‘You’ve got to say, who’s going to be RoboCop??’ But I like a lot of American actors! I like Fassbender, I like Chris Pine! Then he printed that I liked Fassbender. I love Fassbender but I haven’t even discussed RoboCop with him. He’s great. There are a lot of great actors.

The original filmed in Dallas, if I'm not mistaken. And I think think they confirmed that the remake would still take place in Detroit.

Nic Cage would actually be cool as the villain if it's written right. He can still be a good actor, just give him good material.

Definitely. He's great when he has the right material and good directing to work with.

..... and Willem Dafoe for Dick Jones. Or Kevin Spacey.

Kevin Spacey for Dick Jones and Dafoe should play the gang leader that shoots Murphy into the next oblivion turning him into Robocop :woot:

Having Nic Cage as the villain surely would make the movie pretty special... :p

Henchman: Sir, one of our warehouses burned down.

Cage: HOW'D IT GET BURNED!

Henchman: Sir..

Cage: HOW'D IT GET BURNED HOW'D IT GET BURNED!

Henchman 2: It was the Robocop.

Dafoe actually WOULD make a pretty good Boddicker, now that I think of it.

If Padilla does get Fassbender, I'd definitely take more interest in the film.

I think Fassbender is above this type of role. Hes getting more and more recognition and he always has xmen to fall back on pending they continue on with young magneto.

Well who's to say fass if given the role wouldn't do it. Maybe he would like to work with this director or if he likes the script signs on.

Fassbender is not above Robopcop is the same way Christian Bale is not above Batman or Viggo Mortensen is not above Aragorn.

Fassbender as Robocop would be pretty cool!!

i think the chances for a sequel are small.

It did very well in theaters and so far on video. It is pretty much a lock to have a sequel. And with fox wanting to keep hold of the xmen rights they are going to do another film. Last I heard they where thinking of a 70s setting.

Therell definitely be a sequel. Sales are great for it not to mention the critical praise which was crazy good. I love the Fass but I just dont think he's right. Murphy needs to be an every man looking guy. The Fass is not that.

I still don't think that. Like I said I rather have an actor as caliber as fass. Then ending up with young pretty boy actor like lauther, or some of the other young 20 somethings actors.

Webhead, i agree. What's your opinion on chris pine as the lead?

Well I do like him he could work if they did want murphy to be a little younger. But I rather stick to a 30 something in the role. Then like I said possibly getting someone like lauther, or others of his class.

Chris Pine is 31 (we were born on the same year, SAME DAY!!!)
