Drama Rocky/Creed Cinematic Universe Thread

He’s even getting antsy to move away from sequels and remakes, telling me that after Thomas Crown he’s already planning to direct “something original next. I think I’m going to have to.”

Looks like Creed IV won’t be coming for a while.

Do we really need to keep them going? Everyone got closure, let the franchise rest.

Maybe. But I always found the series like a warm blanket checking in with these characters every couple of years.

And there’s a part of me that would love to see a Michael B Jordan at 60 getting his own Rocky Balboa film in 20 years.

Oh **** it, let's just go the Muppet Babies route and do a cartoon where it's baby Rocky, Adrian, Paulie, Mickey, Apollo, Drago, Clubber Lang and the robot from Rocky IV all hanging out in a nursery.

I'm late, but you are hilarious my friend LMAO.

I'd like to see at least one more. His siblings finally got mentioned in Creed 3, I'd like to see them as part of the actual story in Creed 4.

To do what though? I just don't see the point of doing more. The dude already retired successfully and built a career and a life. He's a manager now. His wife is successful. They have an adorable daughter. He sets a good example for her. His adopted mother, Mary Anne died.

It still annoys me that the movies never addressed that Apollo had an affair and a child out of wedlock. It's the thing that always annoyed me about the Creed films.

The sequels were already pushing it by having him fight Ivan Drago's son. I feel like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel by continuing to do more and falling into the trap of franchises. You're making them just to make them not because there's a good story to tell.

Yes I'm sure. I feel like the well is running dry here. You've already given an emotional ending to Rocky Balboa. I just don't see what else you can really have Adonis do that he hasn't already done yet? It feels like they reached a good stopping point. Not everything needs to be six movies.

They can continue exploring the relationship between him and Viktor, similar to how they did with Rocky and Apollo but not exactly the same. Explore Bianca‘s progressive hearing loss some more and how that impacts her career as an artist and how she interacts with her family and other people and how that makes her feel. Lean more into Adonis’s role as a mentor training the next generation of boxers, which you could also tie in with his daughter Amara’s growing interest and diving deeper into the world of boxing, the differences and challenges that come with a person in the deaf community potentially participating in the sport and how others see and treat someone like that. The politics of fights being staged in order to please and satisfy corporate interest versus being authentic and giving it your all. And these are the ones that are just at the top of my head. I’m sure someone else who’s more familiar with the franchise and boxing could probably think of even more. There are several things that they can do that still haven’t yet been done.

We only got Creed III because Michael B Jordan wanted to do it and direct it, otherwise, it probably wouldn’t have gotten made to begin with. Not the case with every single film, but the ones where all all of the people involved in making it are totally locked in, passionate about it and take their time with it and passionate about it and take their time with it. And it’s not like they’ve been constantly pumping these out every two years, just for the heck of it. Creed III came out five years after the second.

As long as they have a good idea and a story to tell, and the people involved want to make it, they can keep making them and people will continue to go see them.

I mean there wasn't really a point in doing any of the Rocky sequels either. That story was complete. He went the distance, nearly beat the world champ, and found his true love.

Well that's one of the things that could be addressed in the next movie lol. Though I don't really agree that they never addressed it at all. In the first movie Rocky doesn't believe Adonis is Apollo's son at first because "Apollo wouldn't do that". Maybe not an exact quote but close enough. And in the third movie when Mary Anne is dying and she talks to Adonis thinking he's Apollo, she says that taking in Adonis is what helped her forgive Apollo. But yeah, it's pretty clear that Adonis is not close with his half siblings, and it's obvious the reason why is because of the circumstances of his birth. He even says Damian treated him more like a brother than Mary Anne's kids did. Those are things that could be explored in a 4th movie. Not the entire plot of course, but one of the subplots.

Don't know what to say dude, I'm not going to try to force you to see a 4th movie if they decide to do one lol. Just saying I personally wouldn't mind another one.

This.

I mean. The first Creed did address it fairly well. Mary-Anne even said how angry she was at Apollo. There was even a news segment that talked about would it tarnish Apollo’s legacy. What more do they need to address?

And I mean, with sports celebrities, cheating on their spouse isn’t exactly shocking.

It wasn't adequately addressed IMHO. They cut the scene where Adonis asks Rocky about it. They clearly wanted to acknowledge it as little as possible.
