What do you guys think of a He-Man movie? Any casting ideas?

Here is my idea, It's pretty much like the newer show.
Eternia, a futuristic yet medieval culture. It's king believes in piece but rules by a strong hand. His sorcerer wants control of his kindom but when found out by his treason a curse is put upon him by the ancient sorceress of grayskull castle, That because he is so evil he shall show his true face so that anyone who sees him will know his heart is dead like his soul. After the curse he is banished to the deadlands of eternia as a prison sentence. Skip ahead 15 years a boy who is shy but with a heart of gold is sword training with his teacher. He is very reluctant to be offensive but is a great swordsman. The boy is Adam Prince of Eternia. It is his birthday the king gives him a beast named cringer a trained protector and pet only meant for loyalty this cat is gentle and very loyal but nasty when provoked. The king's most loyal general Man At Arms also has a present for Adam The Sword Of GraySkull. Lengend says it brings out the best in the bearer who weilds it. Upon recieving the sword the sorceress recites the chant By the Power Of Grayskull show me what lies in his heart as the vision happens the sword takes over Adam His clothes turning into smoke and then into armor his body Growing at a rapid pace the boy then turns into a man a HeMan(heymaan) an ancient warrior once known to eternia as a savior and prophet athat was fortold after he died his soul would be reincarnated into a chosen one when an ancient evil would arise to take over eternia. He-Man Then Grabs the sword And yells BY The POWER OF GRAYSKULL! the energy and magic and reinvigerates the soul of adam I HAVE THE POWER! He then colapses and is turned back into Prince Adam. He is told of skeletor The ever sorcerer. And later on the kindom is attacked by skeletors forces and the battle begins between heman and the skeletor.

Not bad. It looks like you want everyone to know that Prince Adam and He-Man are the same person though. It should be kept a secret, like in both TV shows.

I would have it be more like the 2000 reboot, and have Man-At-Arms take Adam to Castle Grayskull in secret. It's there that he learns his destiny to become He-Man and receives the Power Sword. It's also when he's meeting with The Sorceress that the kingdom is attacked by Skeletor and his henchmen. Man-At-Arms is contacted by King Randor and informed of the attack, so Man-At-Arms and He-Man head back to defend the castle. By the time they get there, King Randor is badly injured and Queen Marlena has been captured. When Skeletor flees back to Snake Mountain, he gives an ultimatum of unconditional surrender or the queen dies. He-Man and Man-At-Arms gather together Strydos, Teela, Ram-Man, Man-E-Faces, and Mechaneck to go on a rescue mission.

I think King Randor should be captured instead of the Queen.

Either way, Adam's parents being captured would spark some interesting conversations if they were ever to show a scene of Skeletor and them talking in the dungeons. Maybe hint at the possible kidnapping of Adora?

I really want this to be made into a film. The technology exists and has for a long time now. That's a no brainer. I also think He-Man should be a man of very few words, and kept mostly in the shadows. I picture Teela getting saved and laying on the ground injured and looking up and seeing He-Man towering over her, with the sun in her eyes and the glare covering his face. At least for the first half of the film. That's how I'd do it at least.

Also, I don't think they'd be able to find someone who could match Frank Langella's brilliant performance.

my bad it would be a secret the only one that would know would be the sorceress and man at arms and I think the smoke idea would be greeat to replace the clothes it always bugged me how it was prince adam fully clothed then half naked heman with no transition where did Adams's clothes go lol anywho I think heman should really be shown as the most powerful being not just man but being in the universe and his only weakness be the magic that created him meaning skeletors needs to capture or kill the sorceress to defeat heman as well as take his sword away that would make for a great climax Heman gives his sword to save his friends thus turning into prince adam once skeletor uses it to capture and torture the sorceress and prince adam hides so no one sees the change and must use the power in his heart to help his friends and not rely on heman until he takes the sword back and challenges skeletor. I also think that he should only say the i have the power line twice once when he first gets it and once when skeletor says something like who are you do you know what you have boy do you know what you have?! and then by the power of gray skull I think that it would stand out that skeletor was defeated not just by his greatest threat but by a boy something different than I have seen and I think skeletor should beg for death but heman points his sword and threw the sorceress imprisons him in a time lock or something that he will never awaken from so then only man at arms and skeletor will know and maybe his father will have suspicions as well as teela

He-Man is a tough role to cast. Screenwriters can't seem to rectify or figure out how they want to present Adam/He-Man.

Chris Hemsworth's a rising star now and all and he IMHO wouldn't be a terrible choice. I think the problem is though he wouldn't be doing both He-Man and Thor since they are in many ways similar roles and characters.

But while Hemsworth's type works for He-Man, what about Prince Adam and how do you separate Adam and He-Man if at all? All the scripts I've read do dramatically different takes.

You need to find an actor who bears a strong physical resemblance to the actor playing He-Man, but is much smaller and/or younger. For example, when I wear my hair long and grow a beard, I bear a striking resemblance to the wrestler Triple H. I'm smaller and not as muscular, and TBH, a little overweight. But we do look a lot alike, enough so that I could be hired by the WWE to play his "little brother". If he were cast as He-Man (I'm just using this as an example, I'm not actually picking The Game as my casting choice), then someone like me who looks like him but on a much smaller scale, would be the perfect casting choice as Prince Adam.

I'm not sure exactly WHO would be best at this time, but that would be the TYPE of person you should want.

Are you saying cast two different actors who look alike?

They should cast 2 different actors. A young man to play Adam (early 20's I'd say) and a ripped giant to play He-Man? This is an oportunity to do something no other film within this type of genre has done; cast 2 seperate actors to play the 1 character.

They have an extraordinary amount of mythology to play with in this series. They really can make it the next LOTR or something along those lines. I don't want a Clash of the Titans or Conan 2011 type He-Man film. I want a He-Man film that will be taken seriously. Be epic and large in scale. And knows exactly what it wants to do and do it. I know that's what everyone wants. But I can't stress it enough.

Think how amazing Battlecat could be, now that we can achieve such a vision.

I agree. It isn't any different when they cast actors playing siblings when they choose who they think would look "related".

Not totally identical, but here should be a very strong resemblance between the two. They should look like brothers, just very different in size and athleticism.

Like the runt of the Von Eric family (I forget his name). He was born premature, and had a number of health problems including asthma. Thus he was never able to grow as large or be as athletic as any of his brothers, and consequently couldn't join the family business (pro wrestling). But if you ever see any pictures of the Von Erics all together, you'll notice a strong physical resemblance between all of the Von Eric boys, including the runt of the litter.

Now I'm not saying "Hire a pair of brothers to play Prince Adam and He-Man". But they should hire a pair of actors who can PASS as brothers.

Not even pass as brothers. Just 2 actors that you could say "Yeah, that's what he would look like as an older version of him". They cast younger versions of actors/characters all the time when showing us flashbacks or backstories.

Yeah that's the way to go.

Why not just use tech to make like a puny Adam version of the He-Man actor?

I hated the way Chris Evans looked pre-Capt. Honestly, I get that they wanted to drill home the fact that he becomes a super soldier in every physical sense, but did they have to make him look anorexic? Why couldn't he have a normal build? He was still going to look massive after the transformation anyway. UGH.

As someone said before it should be a trilogy with King Hiss as the main villain in the second film.
And Hordak should be the focus of the last one.

That seems indeed to be the hardest thing. Do we want only He-Man (like the Lundgren movie), or do we want Adam and He-Man?

Well some thought the reason the Lundgren movie didn't do as well was because it didn't have enough familiar elements from the cartoon so including Adam may be the smarter move.

i would start with the king and queen killed and skelitor taking over. Adam is raised by a group of nomads as He-Man when the Skelitor starts to make a move on grayskull the sorceress sends the Man of Arms to find him and bring him to the to her. he is trained how to use the sword and told about his family history.

Was Benjamin Button a waste of time and money?

Were The Lord of The Rings movies?

Not a waste of time and money, but often the simplest solution to a problem it the best one. In the case of The Lord Of The Rings, why hire actors, AND scale doubles, AND build two or three of everything in different sizes, AND spend e money on the CGI to make the hobbits and dwarves look smaller than the humans and the elves, when you can simply hire a bunch of midgets and dwarfs to play the roles, and build scaled sets and props for them for a fraction of the price? Granted, the movie looks awesome. But Peter Jackson paid way more money than he had to. Ron Howard managed to make Willow look just as good twenty years earlier, and at a fraction of the cost.

As for Captain America? The pre-superhuman Chris Evans was only on screen for a relatively short time. Once he became Captain America, they didn't have to CGI him anymore. Prince Adam is likely to be Prince Adam right through the entire movie, except for the times he changes into He-Man. That makes taking a muscular actor and using CGI to make him look small and weak unnecessarily costly.

IE: Just get two actors.
