I almost want to say this is the best film I've seen this year. It's definitely the most heart-filled. Jordan and Stallone's performances were outstanding. It was a roller coaster. Had you cheering, bobbing and swaying in your seat during the fights, and nearly in tears during some emotional scenes. And that musical score was great.

Thumbs way up. Now I have to buy the Rocky series on blu-ray.

Quoted for truth. I felt exactly the same way.

Loved every bit of it. Stallone needs to win awards for this.

I was kind of bummed when Rocky mentioned that he hadn't spoken to Mary Ann since Apollos funeral.

If they do a follow up, they HAVE to have a scene together. I'd imagine it'd be a pretty emotional scene...

****in incredible. It's the same formula only done better.

Dat continuous shot tho... D:

9.5/10

I really want to see this again just for the boxing scenes.

This Sly scene really got me choked up. How everything like Adrian and Paulie has moved on and he's still "here", how his future is back on that wall and basically has already lived out his glory days. Time does fly and I can't believe Sly's an old man now.

In Creed II, President Hillary Clinton recruits Adonis to take on Boris Ivanovich Drago to win a bet with Vladimir Putin over the future of the Crimea.

Great movie, on the whole, I thought. I was kind of expecting Mrs. Creed to have a scene with Rocky at some point (the movie could have done a bit more with her, in general), but the development of the characters was terrific. I don't think Stallone has ever been better than he is here.

The "love interest" part can often be thankless, but I thought Coogler and Tessa Thompson did a good job with the part, and the character concept (a singer progressively going deaf) was a step above her just being some random girl the hero falls for.

Could happen in the probable sequel. Plus Adonis has a brother & sister we've never seen him interact with.

^ One of the other Creed siblings was the trainer at the first gym, wasn't he? I might be wrong.

That was Duke's (longtime Apollo Creed trainer) son.

It was REALLY good, and MBJ and Stallone were great. Heck they even managed to make the love interest more interesting/complex than just your standard movie love interest, so props for that as well. For a sequel, I'd really like it if Adonis visited an older Ivan Drago and had a conversation with him about Apollo's death. Maybe Drago now regrets it, having had decades to ponder it.

I really only have minor complaints:

I would have liked a bit more about Rocky and his son. Given that it was SUCH a big part of VI, and the whole surrogate father/son thing between Rocky and Adonis in this film, Rocky's son being absent again, and not really addressing it all that much, did bug me a bit.

I'm still not completely onboard with them throwing Apollo's character under the bus. I know WHY they did it, but it didn't completely work for me honestly.

But that was about it, and neither of those hurt the movie all that much for me.

They gave Paul Newman an Oscar for "The Color of Money" in 1986, where he reprised the role he played in "The Hustler" back in the 1960s. It wasn't Newman's best work at all, but an acknowledgment that hey... this guy has contributed something to the business.

To me, Stallone did a better job in this than Newman did in 'Money'. He really did a better job in this than he did in the original film. Add on top of that that Rocky is such a beloved character, and the places he took the character in this... watching Rocky go up those stairs again in this almost brought a tear to my eye.

I feel bad for anyone who's dismissive of the Rocky series, because this is one of the year's best.

Finally get to see this in a couple of hours.

New Half in the Bag is up and they talk about Creed. Can't say I necessarily agree with them about the love interest, I do feel it was one of the lesser parts of the movie, but I felt it was handled pretty naturally and had a dynamic that kept it semi interesting. But I did laugh when they pointed out how wretched her music was.

This isn't out here until January. :(

I listened to the score earlier. It's so good, works very well alongside Bill Conti's work. The Creed theme sounds like it evolved from the Gonna Fly High theme, and of course it amps you up. :D:up:

Just saw this and will say it was a great movie. Stallone was amazing & Jordan was really good. The 1st fight Adonis had with Rocky in his corner against the trainer's son was absolutely amazing. Single scene, continuos shot, no cut scenes, beautifully done. Final fight didn't reach the same intensity for me but it was still decently done. Lots of emotional scenes throughout the movie, especially if you're a Rocky fan, which I am. 8.5/10.

Saw it today and I have to say it was excellent. If there is justice in this world, MBJ and Stallone will get Oscar noms. They were phenomenal. This is easily the best Rocky movie since the original, and that's saying something because I'm also a big fan of Rocky 2 and Rocky Balboa.

Bring on Creed 2: Rocky 8. :D

Also, one thing stuck out to me as being unintentionally funny. During that scene when Adonis first meets Rocky and mentions all of those secret things that happened in Rocky's past, Rocky asks him, "How do you know all this?" Was I the only one who almost expected Adonis to say, "I saw all the movies."

This was a wonderful film and I had a blast with it. :awesome:

I grew up with this franchise and seeing it revitalized in such a tasteful and sophisticated way was awesome. Hollywood should take note. This is how it's done.

Also...

I love that they finally answered who won the third fight between Rocky and Apollo.

:D

I just came back from this earlier, and man this was incredible.I loved it.

Great movie. Coogler and Jordan have potential to become the next Scorcese and DeNiro if they keep it up.

The next Scorsese and DiCaprio would probably be more accurate (those two work together much more).
