Wood Harris (who I didn't realise was the son of Apollo and Rocky's trainer when watching) would surely play a role in a sequel, as well as possibly his guy that knocked Adonis out.

The seventh Rocky Film >>>> The seventh Star Wars Film

Creed was the most picture of the year, imo... Although I admit, I haven't seen Hateful Eight, Revenant, Concussion, nor Bridge of Spies yet... But I absolutely LOVED this movie..

Dear JJ Abrams - THIS is how you do a seventh franchise film from the 70's and THIS is how you get people to love the next generation of characters spawned from the previous ones.

Creed sequel aims for November 2017 release (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/1ZnXIMn

MGM is eyeing a November 2017 release date for the sequel to “Creed,” Variety has learned.

That would allow the film to open exactly two years after the first chapter starring Michael B. Jordan hit theaters. The Warner Bros. release has gone on to gross more than $105 million at the domestic box office and land Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for best supporting actor. “That’s my goal,” MGM CEO Gary Barber told Variety on Sunday night at the Golden Globes of his release plan, adding that the date hasn’t been set in stone yet.

If the movie does come out that soon, it could mean that Ryan Coogler — who is in talks to direct Marvel’s “Black Panther” –might not be able to return as director.
In a recent cover story with Variety, Stallone alluded to the possibility that Coogler would be an executive producer of the second “Creed” due to scheduling. “I know Ryan is going to be gone for a couple years,” Stallone said. “There’s a diminishing time acceptance of a sequel.”

Stallone also revealed a potential plot line of the film, which could be set in the past and feature the return of Carl Weathers as the late Apollo Creed. “Ryan has some ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together,” Stallone said. “Think of ‘The Godfather 2.’ That’s what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious.”

Yep, they definitely set that up. The dude was the #1 pound for pound.

If Coogler doesn't return and they go with that story Stallone is saying... consider me less interested.

Googler won't return. :| Black Panther is official now.

#2 Conlan was one. Danny stuntman Wheeler also took the keys to Donnie stang. He was also supposed to fight for the title before the fight at the press conference. I would expect Creed 2 be about that. The title is vacant as Conlan went to jail, so the next movie should be a fight between Creed who almost beat him and the guy who was the #1 contender.

It'll be interesting how they spin that, Lobo. If they don't wait for Coogler (which I hope they do), they need to get someone fantastic. This is especially important if Sly ends up winning the Oscar.

I don't know why they are in a rush to make a Creed sequel. Give it time.

They need to wait for Coogler. Stallone would be arrogant to think it would work without Coogler's direction.

Yeah in some way I hope Stallone isn't opportunistic with this property to get him popular in successful films again.

It is not u to Stallone, He won't be the director, he may help choose the new one though.

Cooglers a hot property in Hollywood right now so it doesnt surprise me that he wouldn't be able to direct a sequel.

So long as they have him back as a producer and come up with the story idea, I'm good. I'm confident he and Stallone will pick the right dude for the job.

^I feel the same way. I just saw this movie last night and I'll give it a 9/10. It's a great movie and IMO the best of this franchise to date. It's also tied with AoU for my #1 movie of 2015 so far(though I have still quite a few movies yet to watch like Sicario and The Revenant so we'll see how it holds up when the final tally comes in). But Black Panther is in good hands.

He deserved it, he was the best I've seen him in a long time.

Loved Stallone, but I definitely feel Hardy gave the more impressive performance.

I have to agree. Hardy excelled at immersing himself in the role of an irredeemable bastard. However, I'd still rather see Stallone win. The way he and Coogler brought back the character of Rocky Balboa pulled at my heartstrings. Hardy's time will come soon enough.

While I share some your sentiments, isn't that the type of political decision making that many deride the Academy for?

It irks me that Stallone was the only nominee. I want him to win as much as the next guy, but it's just insane that the Acadamy's responded to last year's criticism by turning out an even MORE white set of Noms.

A sequel to Creed is a horrible idea. Stallone has found his next franchise to run into the ground.
