A sequel to Creed is a horrible idea. Stallone has found his next franchise to run into the ground.

It was set up for a sequel with the way they planned it. The only thing it needed was for Creed to be a hit, which it was.

I don't see how it's a terrible idea. I would very much like to see how the Adonis Creed character progresses...

I would love to see a sequel. The first movie was a good setup for a series of films starring Adonis. And I agree with LostSon; I'm interested to see how the character grows and matures.

There's two questions here. Should there be a sequel to Creed and if so, what part should Rocky play in it? I would see a sequel but I just don't know where else to take Rocky short of having him die on screen which is a terrible idea.

They MUST have Mary Ann confront Rocky in the sequel...it'll be one hell of a scene.

Saw it today, what a fantastic continuation of the Rocky legacy. Ryan Coogler's script is filled with heart, emotion, honesty, warmth and humour, and his direction is dynamic and exciting.

This is Sylvester Stallone's 'Unforgiven', Rocky says to Donnie in the film to pour all the hurt and all the pain into the round it's mirrored his performance, Sly pours nearly 40 years in the game and of playing Rocky into the character here. We find Rocky as the same lovable and wiser than he seems salt of the earth pug we've always known him to be, but there's a sadness and directionless weariness to him that changes the night Donnie walks into Adrian's.

The dynamic between the two is fantastic, filled with a heart and sense of humour which drives the entire movie, Jordan plays Donnie with an upbeat drive, rather than being the cliche angry young man, instead his anger fuels his determination. The training scenes with them feel authentic and are energetically captured by Coogler, but it's the emotional scenes that are the money.

Jordan holds his own well with a real rawness, but Stallone shines as Rocky's fears and sadness pour out, Coogler gives him the lines like arrows and Sly hit's bullseye after bullseye, whether it's delivering sage everyman wisdom, motivational speeches or heartfelt honesty, he judges it all pitch perfectly.

Not be lost in the shuffle is Tessa Thompson's artsy but real Bianca, she's a match for Donnie and their romance is understated and nicely played. There's a lot more I can see happening with her in a sequel.

The boxing in the film is ferociously captured, the camerawork is dynamic and throws you right into the middle of every uppercut and jab, the impact feels like it shudders the screen. The single take fight is an impressive achievement but so is the structure and editing of the main event between Creed and Conlan, Coogler fusing the fight with powerful corner scenes between Rocky and Donnie as Rock tries to motivate his young protege.

On the surface the story is very much like Rocky, but the film is really more about family and a need to belong and have purpose in life. Rocky shows Donnie how to be the man he wants to be and Donnie gives Rocky a purpose to keep on fighting, this is highlighted so nicely in a dinner scene with Rocky, Donnie and Bianca, and that is Coggler's skill, he delivers the big dramatic moments in and out of the ring, but it's the smaller scenes like Rocky visiting the graves of Adrian and Paulie or Bianca convincing Donnie to take the Creed name, right to the final scene of the film that showcases a deft hand.

No reason they can't move the sequel back a year to November 2018 so that Coogler can direct Black Panther and Creed 2.

2018 is the latest I'd move it back. A 3 year gap sounds about right.

The first four Rocky films had a 3 year gap between them, give or take a few months.

Well I rewatched all of the Rocky Saga and Creed is easily in the top 3; preceded by Rocky and Rocky II, followed by Rocky Balboa.

Agreed. I have it more or less on par with Rocky II. Though I give that the slight edge. I've seen Creed three times now. Very re-watchable film.

Tony Burton died. It's a shame he didn't get to be in Creed.

Finally got to see this.

Was very well made, very good. I am very happy to be proven wrong (if you go back you can see me saying how stupid an idea this was)

Only real complaint was Tessa Thompson's character. I thought she was a bit meh. And [BLACKOUT]they really shouldve let Rocky die. Yeah I know it wouldve been a bummer but that wouldve been the move[/BLACKOUT]

Watched this again recently.

Confirms this was my favorite movie of 2015.
Black Panther may just be my most anticipated movie of 2018 because of Ryan Coogler.

So many little things you notice on repeat viewings. The most underrated Rocky scene is when he's talking about his son going away to Vancouver. The photo is of Stallone's real son who died a few ago. The look and expression of Sly is just heartbreaking.

Donny's most underrated scene is when he's watching the Rocky/Creed fight on youtube. He gets up and he takes on the role of Rocky fighting Creed. Mimicking his every move.

One of the most layered leads in a big movie like this that I've seen in a long time. Fighting to distance himself from his father, but also filling the need to be closer to him as well. The wonderful Bianca carefully informs him of this.

Just love the theme throughout the movie of "Its you against you"

Great score as well.

Tony Bellew while not as iconic as some of the other Rocky villains did a solid job as well. He did have the greatest intro in the boxing ring I've seen in a while. Which is impressive considering Donny's was awesome as well.

Sad there isn't a Creed sequel in the works, but maybe he returns after Black Panther.

Some great deleted scenes.

Rocky remembering his past.

Rocky talking to Adrian.

I think leaving in that last scene could have helped his oscar chances..

For me, I would put Creed right behind the first Rocky, and ahead of all other movies in the franchise.

I see Creed basically having all of the same great qualities as Rocky, it's just Stallone's & Burgess Meredith's performances were absolutely phenomenal and much better than Michael Jordan's (even though he was excellent in Creed).

I like what they did with Creed, and happy they're doing a sequel.

Loved this movie.

Would have been my favorite movie of 2015 had it not been for Mad Max.

I thought Coogler and Jordan both made the right choice not going immediately into the Creed sequel, but if they don't go directly into it from Black Panther, I think it's dead.

as a movie fan, great film

as a Liverpool fan, fun to see a Toffee gets his face knocked off
