What you think about this movie?

I saw it years ago, but still I like it. It was very beutiful movie with very good cast and not bad script.

I thought it was a good movie, but I never liked the story of Romeo & Juliet so I thought it was boring. But thats just me...

The movie was good, but John Leguizamo made it great! For once Tybalt was my favorite character in the story.

i loved this movie. theres a large male presence on this board so we may not get target audience results. but i thought it was an awesome retelling

Tybalt was my favourite character too. Dicaprio was kinda boring. Harold Perrineau (Micheal from Lost) was a great Mercutio and I really liked the cardigans song.

John Leguizamo looked like he was in a western or something. But it worked.

One of my favorite films.
Great casting for pretty much all of the parts, and the film has a look that Luhrman brought with him to Moulin Rouge and will hopefully bring to Australia.

It was a very interesting and good film.

I LOVE this movie, I used to watch it over and over again with my friends when I was younger. It's been a while since I saw it, but I'm sure I'll love it just the same:heart:

I'll always remember it as the film that got me hooked on Leo:o

i guess were talking the leo and claire version?

It was a bit much for me, but John Legweezoomee was badass.

I love it too. I'm a man's man, and even I reckon this film has an excellent everything.

CASTING
MUSIC
SCRIPT
ACTION

All spot on and one of the best movie songs ever (Des'ree).

Went to see it in the cinema was a bit meh about it but I totally fell in love with the music. Own it now on DVD and Leo was totally worth the hype back then (and now). Back to the music, A.J.Rimmer hit the nail on the head with the Des'ree song, its so beautiful it gives me goosepimples everytime.

I love the visual style of Luhrman, more so in Moulin Rouge. His hallmark of glamourous/extravagent costumes, fast pace editing and music works so well, especially at the party in the Capulet household when Romeo is tripping out. But again have to go back to the music, the wedding scene...man the hair on the back of my neck stands up each time!

I've never seen it.

Yay or nay?
It's a good film, nothing like any other Romeo and Juliet film. I'd recommend it.

I voted crap, totally didn't work for me. Guns as swords? Shakespeare English in a modern L.A. setting? Nope sorry couldn't buy into it.

I think it was a bold and admirable attempt to translate Shakespeare for the MTV generation.

The fact they were able to keep the old english script with the style they kept is nothing short of amazing. It is one of my favorite movies out there.

Isn't this the excat same they used in the original play except for updated names of places?

It's a good movie, but I'm not huge on the actual play, so it doesn't rank all that high with me.

Nope. It is the Shakespeare play, with a few lines or brief scenes omitted.
