Back to that familiar theme in Hitchcock films, is there such thing as the perfect murder. Rope epitomizes why I love Hitchcock, he sets up these characters you grow to love and has everything come tumbling down. I love how far out there Hitchcock's movies are but how truely human they are at the same time. The plot of Rope is two young men kill there friend for the thrill of it and then stuff the body in a chest, and invite the boy's parents and fiance over for dinner. It reminds me of Plato's story about the man who sees the corpse, part of us wants to see it but when we do we look away in disgust. Then of course the way it's shot is awesome, it tries valiently to keep the illusion of constant flow of time by seeming like it never cuts. And you can even see the sky in the window becoming darker and darker. Truely an awesome film.
