Saints Row 2 has been officially announced by THQ, its expected to arrive sometime in 2008.

I thought the first one was ok, it wasnt anything revolutionary but it was pretty fun. This one looks like it could be night and day better with the added option of playing the full story mode with Online Co-Op.

Yea, i think GTA will be the better game, but im looking forward to the online coop for SR2.

If THQ is smart theyll put some distance between them and Rockstar in terms of the release date. Goin up against GTA is a tall mountain to climb no matter what type of game you are.

Woo, I love SR. The story is god-awful, but the gameplay and controls are unmatched. Motorcycles with ragdoll physics, now that's something I've been waiting for since Vice City.

This will be the mindless fun equivilant to the much more serious story driven GTAIV. And unless Rockstar took some notes from the first Saints Row, SR will also still play much better then the GTA games.

if it's not the creating a white guy that bugs you, you should know, GTA is the exact same kind of thing...there's no real difference in the tone of the stories or anything...

I, for one, highly enjoyed the first game and felt it was far superior to San Andreas. It took what made GTA great and expanded on it, and it was fun as hell.

I'm not so sure how Saints Row 2 will hold up against GTA4, but I'll still be buying both.

Yea, with GTA IV coming out, i wouldnt be surprised if this game goes unnoticed. I played and enjoyed the first one, but have NO intention of purchasing this one as GTA IV will be far superior in every way.

I wasnt even all that stoked for GTA up until recently.

I played the first one, and enjoyed it, and I thought that there were aspects which were better than GTA. I got a higher completion on this than any of the GTA's. Not to say that GTA won't be awesome but this does provide some things that GTA doesn't. I was just reading yesterday that this game is going to let you take human shields, that sound like fun to me.

I loved the first one. The controls are fantastic, the graphics are good, the customization rocked (I made Leone) and the ragdoll is loads of fun.
But I do agree that GTAIV coming out will slaughter this game. I know R* will fix all of their GTA problems and blow every other game out of the water with IV, so I see no reason to pick this up.

Yea, i agree. I think the only reason most ppl played SR was because they were looking for a next gen GTA. Well, now that we actually do have a next gen GTA, there is no need for another Saints Row. Ill still probably try this one out, for the online co-op, but i doubt itll take ANY serious time away from GTA IV.

Okay? And there's more to Saint's Row. Being first does not give you ultimate power over a genre. If I say Mortal Kombat is a Street Fighter rip off, how many people will disagree? Jak and Daxter is the replacement Crash?

In terms of history, maybe it's all true. SR was inspired by GTA, MK by SF Jason Rubin tried to earn back his respect with Jak since naughty dog stole Crash. But you're not playing a game based on history.

You're PLAYING for the game itself. The gameplay is fun, unique to SR and different. I almost feel like people are stuck with what they're most familiar with. Like now that GTA has been enducted into pop-culture, people are giving it more credit.

So many would tell you that FF is the best RPG series ever...Even so far as saying FF7 the best game. But is it? Just because it's the most famous?

How is the gameplay unique to Saints Row? It was directly copied from the GTA games.

I loved Saints Row, but at least I accept it for what it was, a rip-off Next Gen GTA made in the gap between GTA games.
