Because You Asked For It: Guitar Hero: Metallica

I'd rather see Guitar Hero: AC/DC.

Rock Band: Dream Theatre is the way to go.

Sweet! About time someone made a game where you get to sell out! Bring on the ****ty Misfits covers!

Holy hell Activision is milking the s**t outta that franchise.

This had better not mean an end to Metallica DLC in Rock Band like it did with Aerosmith. I could care less about how Activision chooses to rape the GH franchise, unless it interferes with Rock Band.

Maybe this is why Fuel never came out, as planned, for Rock Band...

I was pissed we didn't get Fuel, or any other song from Load or Reload.

But nows, my chance. I'd rather play this than Aerosmith.:csad:

I don't think I've EVER seen a franchise milked as much as Guitar Hero. You know what I hate about this series? Is that it's normally the ONLY game some people play. I can't go to my father in laws house without hearing 1-3...and those are the only games they play.

Drives me nuts.

I also hate that people act like their guitar hero skills are just as good as those who can play...you know, a REAL guitar.

I'll pass on this, just like ever other GH since the second one.

4 however DOES have me interested, for the drumset alone.

Me too, I can't really stand Aerosmith.

I finally played Rock Band yesterday, with some Future Shop employees.
We played Gimme Shelter. Man, what an awesome game.
I still love GH, but I doubt I'll be getting this one. Still on the fence about the Aerosmith one. But GH4 is a must.

Should be better than GH: Aerosmith.

It'd make me eternally happy to see a GH: Disturbed or GH: System of a Down :D

In an interview this week with USA Today, Neversoft lead designer Alan Flores joined guitarist Kirk Hammet and drummer Lars Ulrich to provide further details on Guitar Hero: Metallica. The trio also addressed a few of the particulars of the upcoming rhythm game, namely noting that the game will be extremely challenging.

"It's a lot harder all around, to tell the truth," Flores told USA Today. "Most of the songs have a higher level of difficulty, certainly at the end of the game when you are playing the old-school Metallica stuff where you play really, really fast and there's a lot of double bass [drum] playing, fast guitar playing, and crazy leads."

Flores also said that the game isn't a sequential accounting of the band's career, noting, "We couldn't do that because then you would play something off of Kill 'Em All [the band's first album from 1983], and you would throw the controller against the wall and stop playing."

Therefore, players will begin with two Metallica tracks as an audition of sorts and then, once drafted, will tour the world with the band, playing in a number of real-world venues. Hammet also hinted that other notable bands will make appearances on the tour as players progress. According to Ulrich, he expects to be playing the game with his kids in March.

My interest in this plummeted when he said it'll be a lot harder.

"Hey guys, you know how our games are overcharted and artificially difficult? We're still gonna do that. In fact, we're gonna do it even more! HIGH FIVE!"

That's pretty much what I got from that.

That's my concern as well, esp. since Metallica refused to let their songs from RB1 like "Enter Sandman" to be transferred over to RB2. I have a feeling that Metallica will stay exclusive to GH with their new agreement with Activision, and imo that just ain't right.

Btw, will this game allowed you to play all the instruments from GHWT, or will they only allowed you to use guitar controllers a la GH: Aerosmith?

Saw the tracklist in GameInformer. Kinda bummed "Leper Messiah" isn't in it :(

Why isn't it right? It's their songs and they can make deals with whatever company they choose to or not

Its just lame for the fans. This is kinda lame.

Same here. Harder =/= More Fun

Here’s a quick summary of what we know so far about Guitar Hero: Metallica.

* Fully standalone, no importing or exporting of songs. Presumed compatible with existing World Tour DLC for the Death Magnetic album if nothing else, but that’s a total guess on my part.
* Expert “plus” mode for drumsets with two bass pedals.
* Game will have a “more realistic” look than GH:WT.
* Due to high difficulty level of early Metallica songs (and for that matter all Metallica songs as far as I can tell) the career won’t be in chronological order.
* Like GH: Aerosmith, you’ll be able to play in favorite Metallica venues, tracking the history of the band with the Metallica in-game avatars. There will be trivia and movie clips with the band.
* Boss battles are back, with themed Metallica attacks :(

Not being able to import/export is so stupid. What is Activision getting out of it?

I'm glad I'm selling my GHWT and getting RB2. It's so much more fan friendly.

I also don't understand GH's obsession with songs that are near-impossible to play. I prefer RB's style of a great multiplayer mode and more fun factor over GH's goal of making the game harder, which will only please a small segment of player base for this genre.
