Scandal

I was going to say something about this intersting news... then I saw Sayers signature.

Deal with it, Molly Shannon. :o

Jack Coleman is joining the cast of Scandal this upcoming season, TVGuide.com has learned.

Coleman, who has played the perennial villain in series like Heroes, Castle and The Vampire Diaries, has been tapped for a recurring role starting in October. However, details on said role are being kept under wraps.

Most recently appearing on Burn Notice, Coleman joins previously announced recurring actors Lisa Kudrow and Paul Adelstein, whose roles are also being kept under lock and key. Curse you, Shondaland! Kidding. Sort of.

Scandal returns Thursday, Oct. 3 at 10/9c on ABC.

HRG! :awesome:

I have no idea who that is. But looking forward to seeing the cast of the show expand.

Hmm...not too many people commenting on Scandal. I for one love the show. OLITZ forever!!!!

too bad that Kerry's pregnancy won't be written into the storylines. But maybe it's fodder for the next season's stories.

Has it been confirmed she is preggers? I read a blind item about it, but I haven't seen it confirmed. Where did you hear this?

Plus, if she is pregnant they might still write it in. I hope not because I don't want her to have a child.

It's not been confirmed one way or another if they'll put it in the show.

I gave up on this part of the way through season 2, I just couldn't stand the President.

Ok, so I guess she is pregnant.

And now officially confirmed by KW.

Should 'Scandal' incoporate Kerry Washington's pregnancy into the story? A pro/con list

Scandal: See Full Coverage

On Wednesday, Scandal leading lady/upcoming SNL host Kerry Washington announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. As expected, Shondaland is being tight-lipped about how they’re going to deal with the situation on-screen, which means we’re going to have to quell our curiosities with speculation for now.
Will they do the How I Met Your Mother-style hide-the-belly? Pull a Bones? Who knows! But we certainly have some thoughts, organized in a very Type A personality-way, because we think Olivia Pope would appreciate that.
PROS of having the pregnancy incorporated:
GET EW ON YOUR TABLET: Subscribe today and get instant access!
+ THE BABYDADDY DRAMA. Is it Fitz’s baby? Is it (gasp!) Jake’s baby? Quick! We must make a show timeline to see which is more likely.
+ MELLIE’S REACTION. I mean, this would be amazing, right? I would pay money to see Mellie implode at the mere possibility.
+ NO CHEESY HIDDEN BELLIES. How I Met Your Mother had fun hiding the growing stomachs of their leading ladies, but similar tricks wouldn’t fit Scandal‘s tone. And the alternative to having fun with it is not ideal — each episode tends to turn into a mini-game of Spot the Belly. Working the pregnancy into the storyline would eliminate all issues that come with hiding it.
+ THE FASHION. If we covet Olivia Pope’s ever piece of clothing on a normal day can you imagine the jaw-dropping preggo fashions we’d be treated to? YES!
CONS of having the pregnancy incorporated:
+ THE ACTUAL BABY. It can be argued that Olivia Pope is a bit of a mother hen to her Gladiators as it is, but it’s hard for me to imagine Olivia Pope as an actual mother. Not because she couldn’t handle it, but I don’t see her wanting to bring a child into her insane life. Nor can I imagine a crib sitting in the corner of the conference room at OPA HQ.
+ WE ALREADY HAD A PREGNANCY PLOTLINE. Two pregnancy arcs in so many years seems like a bit much.
+ WE LOSE THE CHANCE TO SEE THE WRITERS WOW US ALL WITH THEIR CLEVERNESS (AGAIN). We’ve bragged and bragged about the writing room’s ability to wow us with plot twists, so imagine if they were given the ultimate challenge: Finding a little time off for their star. Would Olivia get shot? Would Olivia get put in the hole? Would they find a reason to put her on the run for a few episodes? The possibilities are endless — and super thrilling.
MOST CON IMPORTANT OF ALL…
+ NO WINE FOR NINE MONTHS. But…what will she have with her popcorn?
BONUS PRO:
+ BECAUSE IT WOULD MAKE TONY GOLDWYN’S OLITZ DREAMS COME TRUE.

That's somewhat if a contradictory post is it not?

It's the actor's general performance as opposed to the actions of the character, he just comes off like a total *****ebag to me and not good enough for Olivia.

You know what? I'm going to agree with you on Goldwyn. Yet, I think he actually is one of those type of guys in real life since he comes from Hollywood royalty. He "acts" like people have been kissing his ass all his life, which they probably have been since he's a Goldwyn. That's why he makes such a great president!! He truly can play that self-entitled role with gusto.

This latest episode was full on twisty-turny goodness...a little over the top, but I guess that's par for the course with Shonda Rhimes. I never watched Grey's or Private Practice, but this season seems to be on course with previous seasons. I just hope we get more of the re-election drama. I like the role that Kudrow is playing. She's...somewhat believable as a politician.

I didn't realize that about him, interesting Charl, I've actually never seen him in anything else that comes to mind.

No, him being a *****ebag as a President is not a problem. However a *****ebag as a man who the very attractive and independent leading Lady is always having feelings over is off putting.

Yeah, his grandfather started MGM...or something like that. LOL...He was in Ghost too. To date, IMO, that's is his most famous role aside from the one he is playing now. In Ghost he killed Patrick Swayze's character.

Formed with Metro Pictures but Sam Sr. never made a single picture for MGM; still had his own company.

That's why I added something like that....I have only heard the E-Hollywood version.

I've never seen Ghost but that's interesting, he played a character that indirectly lead to the Iconic pottery scene. :D

LOL....haha...that is one way to look at it. Yet, I'm more surprised you've NEVER seen Ghost.

HUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shock

I don't think this has been mentioned on here before, but it deserves to be said. Bellamy Young, aka Mellie, really brings it in her role on this show as well. She can be so commanding and emotional at times that I hope she gets some award recognition at some point in her career on this show as well.

I do too. I enjoy hating her and that is what makes me love her as an actress. It's funny because I read that's Mellie's character was only supposed to be in 3 episodes in the first season and then the president was going to get a divorce, but they change it up and kept her which was a good choice.

Yeah to be honest, I think Mellie and Cyrus are the show stealers. They're all great but these 2 in particular are just incredibly exceptional.
