Scorpion King reboot

They could cast Dwayne Johnson. I hear he's pretty big now!

I'm down if it means they are essentially finding a way to reboot the Frasier Mummy movies.

Haha I’m actually sort of keen on this. I like scorpions, kings and the rock so I’m set when they get all peanut butter and jellied up.

crazy idea, but imagine if they did like a mummy shared universe with all the different gods, curses and mythologies all getting a chance at the spotlight? That would be fun

Better than trying to modernize a classic. I’m all for giving bad movies with potential another shot. We’ll see how it goes.

Solid concept, but it would ultimately lead to studio greed and some half baked director would ruin the entire franchise.

I'd love a shared universe that focuses on mythology in this manner, but I don't think we'll ever get anything like that. Too many opportunities to screw it up.

I wish they'd make a Mummy 4 with all the old cast, including Vosloo and Velasquez. I don't even care how they write them back in.

I mainly wish that Universal realized the gold they struck with the original Mummy remake/reboot/reimagining, and had the idea to go 'Dark Universe' *then*. Imagine a whole series of classic monster movies reimagined as pulp adventures.

A reboot no one wanted and no one asked for.

We're in pretty dire times if SCORPION KING is being rebooted.
A lot of people said the same thing about the new Jumanji films and look how those turned out.

The only thing I remember about the original Scorpion King where the scenes with Kelly Hu which were easily the best part of that movie IMO. Such a weak and forgettable film, but I understand why The Rock has a soft spot for it since it was his first real, leading movie role.

I was a huge fan of The Rock in the early 2000's too, but even I didn't care for that movie back then and while I do enjoy The Mummy Returns I always thought he was the worst part of that movie, especially that god awful CGI during the finale.

I will never understand how that spinoff happened when he barely did anything significant in The Mummy Returns, but it did and while it will probably never happen I would also rather watch a Mummy 4 with the old cast coming back than a Scorpion King reboot.

I wonder who could be the new scorpion king? They surely wouldn’t get John cena.

imagine if they brought back that terrible cgi version haha

It was probably made because as much as he didn't do a lot in the Mummy sequel, he was in it, and he is well known. He, or his agents probably just capitalised on the opportunity.

I'd assume they'll cast someone that can be seen, so that's Cena & Batista out! :p

I barely remember the story of the original movie, the only thing that sticks out in my mind was the shockingly bad CGi. It was far from alone however, The Scorpion King was just one of a number of late 90s/00s' films that opted for CGi overload for villains and third act finales - and they all had the same problem, it completely removed any sense of realism and thus any sense of true danger or tension.

At some point you have to wonder why they didn't just go with practical effects for scenes that didn't really need a digital version of the Rock
