Short but sweet description, which often means something big is happening:

BATTLE OF WITS – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) makes a new ally. Lena (Katie McGrath) and Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) battle for control of Luthor Corp. Sudz Sutherland directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#603). Original airdate 4/13/2021.

Well, I think I know what's happening to Kara in the premiere, then. Phantom Zone, here we come!

That would make a lot of sense and would allow them to work around Melissa not being around early on since she could film her scenes alone, presumably. Or in this case, with one or very few others.

So yeah the sites that have seen the premiere already are all but confirming that's the case, saying things like "once you see the premiere, you'll see why this description is so short." I'll take this over her being unconscious or absent for multiple episodes, that's for sure.

Since Jason Behr's new character is said to be Kryptonian, I bet he's someone Kara meets in the Phantom Zone. I can't see him as Zod, but maybe some take on the Phantom King?

I’m cool with Kara being in the Phantom zone for a bit, I can’t believe I didn’t pick up the “Phantom” in the title even if it’s changed a bit. It would be a good way for Melissa’s scenes to be edited in. I believe Melissa was on maternity leave for six episodes. For the primer it seems like they’re using as much of the footage shot last year as possible. We know episodes 5 and 6 are flashback episodes with Izabela and Olivia as young Kara and Alex. That leaves episodes 2-4. By the short description on this one, which usually means something big happens, this might be one where they get Kara out of the Phantom Zone. Or the short description is because they don’t want to come out and say Kara’s in the Phantom Zone in which case they might get her out in episode 4. This is the equivalent of when Barry was in jail and Grant had very few scenes with the rest of the cast.

With this whole Phantom Zone thing I’m cautiously optimistic that the whole Kara contemplating her mortality doesn’t mean the series ends with her death. Death was right for Oliver, I believe Stephen had said that for a few years before Arrow ended, but I don’t think it’s right for Kara. I really didn’t like the first half of Flash season six where Barry was preparing for his death, I would hate if Kara did the same. Let Kara contemplate her mortality and what she really wants, like a quarter life crisis.

Yeah, Lex setting fire to a children's hospital just to get back at Lena is so deliciously evil. I love it.

Second only to Lex/Wally not washing his hands in Justice League Unlimited.

Lex was much better this week, enjoyed his scenes. Liked the Lena and Brainy stuff as well.

The Kara Phantom Zone storyline is fine but I just can't see an emotional connection between Kara and her father which makes those scenes fall a little flat and just uninteresting.

Good for Lena letting go of Lex and getting a move on with her life.

This season is off to an alright start though. I think things will really pick up in episode 8.

They had three storylines going on in this one.

Thank God, a much better episode than last week.

Pretty much all character moments, but they were actual good character moments, so yay. This whole Lena/Brainy duo is my new favorite thing. And speaking of Lena, she's had more character growth in these last couple episodes than she had in like ALL of S5, and it's very satisfying to see. The Alex/Kelly and Alex/J'onn scenes were also lovely. I enjoyed Lex more in this episode, too. And I'd just like to note - Rhea, Queen of Daxam and our Big Bad of S2, only threatened to destroy that children's hospital to keep Lena in line; Lex didn't even hesitate for 2 f***ing seconds. That's why he's THE Big Bad. :funny:

I'm kind of irrationally excited about Nyxlygsptlnz (I just spelled that without Google, y'all!), but it's also a bit sad that I preferred Kara's scenes with her this week over the ones with her long lost father last week. This show REALLY loves to drop the ball over the gravity of Kara running into her parents whom she thought dead for most of her life, doesn't it??

But yeah, despite this episode being a huge step up, I'm extremely glad it looks like the Phantom Zone eps are coming to an end next week.

There sure was a whole lot of ACTING going on this episode.

Thank god they didn't go Trump this episode with Lex, as I feared after the last episode. And it was nice to see the more sinister side of Lex. Cryer does a great sinister Lex when given a chance. That's the side I really want to see in Superman and Lois.

The non Phantom Zone stuff was pretty good this week. The Kara stuff was okay, I guess. I do look forward to her getting out.

But, to sum up this episode...

There seems something suspicious about Nyxy and not entirely trustworthy. Maybe shell turn out to be a villain and that she was banished to the Phantom Zone for legitimate reasons.

So is that Vampire gone for good now and turned into a phantom?

I had a sense of deja vu about this hospital burning down. Didn't something like that happen before?

Maybe Lena will work with the rest of the super friends from now on. Great to see her resist the urge to kill Lex and talk Brainy out of it.

Where was Dreamer this week? They could've done with her help fighting the phantoms.

I really wish they'd dirty up the people in the Phantom Zone. Kara still has perfect curls, clean super suit, and i wish she'd ditch the cape. It feels weird seeing her run around the PZ with it on.

On the contrary, I wish they'd show there is a Phantom Zone hair salon, beauty spa, massage therapist and dry cleaner so it can account for how they've been living there all this time.

Real good ep this week. They don't lack in the acting department, that's for sure. And though I hope that Nyxy is not a bad character, Kara's chances of meeting two people in a prison who really are innocent, is pretty big. Of course, as much as the chance of her landing on the same Phantom 'Shoal' as her father...
