Secret Origins Or Emerald Dawn?

Which one of Hal Jordan's origin stories do you like best?

The Pre-Infinite Crisis Emerald Dawn or the more recent Secret Origins?

It's Secret Origins for me... All the way. Not only is it more in line with how i view the character but it also cleans up a lot of the parts of Emerald Dawn that just didn't work for me like Hal going to jail for drunk driving and The fact that the Corps doesn't feel like a huge 72,000 strong force, more like a small gang of aliens hanging around Oa etc...

I do like Emerald Dawn, it just feels very... Of it's time. Secret Origins blows it out of the water. Stronger characterisation, better art, more focused story, better pacing blah, blah, blah...

Although there is more material covered in both "Emerald Dawn" and "Emerald Dawn II", Secret Origins is a better story. First of all (and this is my opinion) I did not like the way Keith Giffen, Gerard Jones, and Jim Owsley criminalized Hal Jordan in Emerald Dawn by making him an irresponsible drunk driver who becomes a Green Lantern, and after being imprisoned, is still admitted into the Corps. In reality, no one should be allowed to get a free pass on a prison sentence. That is the wrong message to be sending to the readers. In "Secret Origins" his DUI was retconned out of the story and they gave Kilowog the opportunity to train Jordan properly. Unfortunately, both Jordan and Sinestro were admonished for Fraternization. In spite of that, the story establishes a continuity that leads into the war of the lights and Blackest Night.

I prefer Secret Origins too.

It's more streamlined, i love the art, Hal's likable, and the Corps is big. Plus, you don't get Sinestro until Emerald Dawn II, so that's lame.

I'm surprised that the movie script (at least the first draft) was more like Secret Origins and less Emerald Dawn.

Yeah, What's with Jordan in ED? He's a *****ebag! Forgetting the stuff we've already mentioned, the guy got his best friend killed and he doesn't think twice about it!

And yeah, but you ave to remember the first GL script was written before SO came out. They've since gotten Johns onboard to Secret Origins it up...

I like Emerald Dawn, the whole merging with the centeral power battery and such. I like it.

I prefer Secret Origin, mostly because of the explanations for why Abin Sur used a spaceship, The badass Five Inversions, and the overall characterization. Plus, its pretty much the accepted origin now, so.... Personally, I would love to see more of Secret Origins in the movie. Including Atrocitus!!!!!!

I just read Secret Origin last week, I enjoyed that they made Hal more heroic (with just conflict with authority figures and not a criminal), and not some drunkie *****e.

I think Emerald Dawn was trying to give him a darker edge, and explaining why he was susceptible to Parrallax.

Secret Origin, because it showed him in a more heroic light. Emerald Dawn/Will World was good but it was too dark and alcoholic was not that good of a choice.

Secret origins all the way, i mean they incorporate a good part of the corps into it. and its sooo much smoother in reading than emerald dawn. also, it makes hal seem even more like a cocky pilot, if thats even possible.
