The letters of the day on “Sesame Street” are H, B and O.

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit group behind the children’s television program, has struck a deal with HBO, the premium cable network, that will bring the next five seasons of “Sesame Street” to HBO and its streaming outlets starting this fall.

The partnership will allow Sesame Workshop to significantly increase its production of “Sesame Street” episodes and other new programming. The group will produce 35 new “Sesame Street” episodes a year, up from the 18 it produces now. Sesame Workshop also will create a spinoff series based on the “Sesame Street” Muppets and another new educational series for children.

After nine months of programming exclusively on HBO, the shows also will be available free on PBS, its home for the last 45 years. “Sesame Street” will also continue its run on PBS this fall, with the season featuring a selection of episodes from the last several seasons edited in new ways.

-Big bird will finally off Oscar the Grouch in "True Detective" season 3

-snuffleupagus deals with his drug problem.

-Bert and Ernie....well the jokes write themselves LOL

This is what happens when Maria leaves

Now they can finally do that full frontal nudity they've been skirting for so long.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaas orgy scenes please.

David Simon's Homicide: Life on Sesame Street.

Are they leaving PBS? Going from a free public network to the end all be all paid subscription service is quite a change in mission.

ETA: I actually read the story! HBO gets it for 9 months before sharing it back with PBS. Good move all around then. HBO gets a premier children show, the children show gets better funding for more shows and better production and after 9 months it's still free for all.

They go where the funding is. And since PBS has been systematically defunded for decades they have no alternative.

But they aren't abandoning it either, per the report: "After nine months of programming exclusively on HBO, the shows also will be available free on PBS."

Cookie Monster is found dead in a garbage can with cookies shoved down his puppet hole, and it's up to Bert and Ernie to solve the grisly murder. Along the way we get to see the darker side of Sesame Street and get to meet some of the darker characters. Full frontal puppet nudity, including one episode that takes place entirely in a strip club. You'll never believe who the culprit was.

Of course Bert and Ernie are also an openly gay couple (finally) as well as partners in crime solving.

It'll be a nice lead in for GoT.

I can finally get a KneeHigh Park adaptation.
