Looks like, by having Rogen, Smith may have a significant (and first major) hit in his career coming up.

Wow don't let that depressed emo filth near a Kevin Smith movie

he maybe passably funny in scrubs (still nowhere near Seth Rogen), but the man has made some of the driest blandest movies I have ever seen


Great casting, I had lost faith in this when the person Kevsmith wrote the movie for (Rosario Dawson) passed on it, but now the faith as been restored

does anyone know if this is in some way going to be in the viewaskewneverse? like not nessecarily so blatent that jay and bob have to be in it, but anyone think we might get a quick stop cameo (dante and randall) or Brodies secret stash, or skee ball?

No. Zack and Miri (just like Jersey Girl) will not take place in the Askewniverse or be connected to Smith's other films in any way. It won't even take place in Jersey, it'll be set in Minnesota.

Jason Mewes will have have a supporting a role in the film (not as Jay) and Kevin Smith said awhile back that he was also hoping Jeff Anderson (Randall from Clerks) would be in this movie as well.

Thats too bad imo, I think Smiths one fault is that he is a little ashamed of the Viewaskewneverse, not like ashamed of it, but he is so eager to break free from it that I think it is kind of to a fault, my only reasoning being is that only people in the viewaskewneverse talk like kevin smith characters, so it all seems to fit perfectly and seem natural



oh well this movie will be bomb none the less

there needs to be an Affleck/Lee cameo I would like

I wouldn't say he's ashamed. If anything I think he's very proud of his work and loves the characters he's created from his previous films but just like any other filmmaker, he wants to branch out and do different things.

He tried it once with Jersey Girl, which was Smith's attempt at a mature comedy. Personally, I thought it was a really good movie but unfortunately the whole Bennifer thing at the time killed it's momentum.

Zack and Miri will probably be more of a traditional Smith flick, with usual raunchy dialogue but it won't be tied to anything he's previously done. Really dig the cast and looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, they're filming it in Pittsburgh. They were originally aiming to shoot it in Minnesota but it was cheaper to shoot it in Pittsburgh instead.

But like I guess my point is like the movie takes place in Jersey, and Smiths best movies all have a common thread, is it so much to ask to have Affleck stop by the quick stop, or maybe Walt the fanboy and Steve Dave give Will Smith a tough time for Independence Day or something ya know?

I love Smith and think both are very underrated actors so I look forward to this.

BTW they "got together" at the end of 40 Year-Old Virgin if anyone remembers.

P.S. Zack Braff is a hilarious actor in Scrubs. Garden State was more drama than comedy and it was dry comedy at that, and was very good for what it was (even if college kids for a year overpraised it). He really hasn't done anything else but a couple dumb comedies nobody went and saw, so I can't judge those.
