Danny Boyle Tries "Sharp" Werewolves

Scribe Simon Beaufoy ("Slumdog Millionaire," "127 Hours") tells InContention that he's working on a film adaptation of Toby Barlow's werewolf-themed poem “Sharp Teeth” which Danny Boyle may direct.
The story follows a trio of werewolves in East Los Angeles. Characters include a lawyer with ambitious plans to takeover the city, a dogcatcher and loner who falls for a beautiful and mysterious woman, and a detective investigating dog-related murders.
Beaufoy has been taking ridealongs with LAPD officers in Compton and Watts for research. Boyle is currently working on a soon to premiere stage adaptation of "Frankenstein" starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

**** yeah! Boyle making a werewolf movie!! It says "may direct", I hope he takes this project. We need better werewolf films and I think he would make a great one.

i think this could possible be the best horror movie in hollywood history.

give him 100% control on the script ,casting and rating .

This is actually based on a book, not a poem. Here’s the official plot synopsis of the book:

An ancient race of lycanthropes has survived to the present day, and its numbers are growing as the initiated convince L.A.’s down and out to join their pack. Paying no heed to moons, full or otherwise, they change from human to canine at will—and they’re bent on domination at any cost. Caught in the middle are Anthony, a kind-hearted, besotted dogcatcher, and the girl he loves, a female werewolf who has abandoned her pack. Anthony has no idea that she’s more than she seems, and she wants to keep it that way. But her efforts to protect her secret lead to murderous results.

If Danny does decide to direct this it will have to be sometime after 2012 because he's the artistic director for the Olympic Summer Games. So a bit of a wait but if he signs on then it will be worth it.
