Danny Boyle will direct 127 Hours for Fox Searchlight. The film tells the story of mountaineer Aron Ralston.

Ralston's right forearm got pinned for nearly five days under a boulder during a climb in Utah in May 2003. He used a dull knife to amputate the limb, then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that gave him water and food.

Boyle has written a treatment, and Simon Beaufoy is in talks to write the script, and Christian Colson will produce. It would be a reunion of the team behind eight-time Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire.

Filming will begin next year for a late 2010 release.

I remember reading about this, it could make for a great movie.

Its like Saw I, 'cept its only one guy, and the bathroom is a mountain.

I'll pass.

Kate Mara is negotiating to join James Franco and Amber Tamblyn in Danny Boyle's 127 Hours at Fox Searchlight Pictures.

The film tells the story of mountaineer Aron Ralston, whose right forearm got pinned for nearly five days under a boulder during a climb in Utah in May 2003. He used a dull knife to amputate the limb, then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that gave him water and food.

Mara and Tamblyn play hikers he meets before his ordeal.

Mara can next be seen in theaters in Iron Man 2 playing a federal investigator.

Trailer
As always with Boyle's movies, the cinematography looks great, will be interesting to see how Franco holds most of the movie on his own.

Loved the trailer. Looking forward to this now.

Boyle's work is usually on-off for me. I remember hearing the story years ago, and still think it could make a pretty solid movie. Visually, it looks a bit too much, imo. Eh, we'll see.

Danny Boyle, you clever fool. How dare you use actors that can actually act in your movies. 127 Hours looks like a pure awesome suspense movie.

Looks good. With Boyle directing I imagine the scene where he "escapes" will be pretty intense.

It looks visually great, Boyle really using the landscape well and there are a couple of great shots in there plus Franco is bringing the charisma, I'm interested.

I always thought that Franco couldn't escape from the funk of SM3, but apparently he's the only one that walked out of it without any mud on his boots.

Indeed. I thought I wouldn't be interested in seeing this at first but after seeing the trailer, I want to check it out. & James...well, James is hot so.

The trailer seems so light compared to where the story goes , I like that

I've always knew he had it in him.

He's a rising star. Give him a few years, and he'll be the dude who'll get the mantle of 'movie star'. Watch.

Yep. To be completely honest, Pineapple Express proved he was a good actor.

It looks good although I did kind of laugh when he got his arm pinned...I know, its not funny but the way he was acting in the beginning of the trailer kind of made it funny.

Saw the trailer on tv last night and it peaked my interest. Will be checking it out for sure when it comes out :yay:

I absolutley loved the landscapes with the cinematography. I'm a fan of Boyle so I'm looking forward to this.

Sort of cocky and carefree as if nothing could go wrong?
