Should Marvel Get The Rights Back To All It's Characters?

I think we all really just want FF back at Marvel. Reed and Stark on screen, that will be Gold... It would definitely tie in well with the cosmic route Marvel is going as well. While maintaining the fun of being heroes/celebrities on earth.

Not really....First Class wasn't all that and the Wolverine was only marginally better than Origins Wolverine...so DOFP is their only shot at possible X-men redemption...as for the FF reboot...so far not one thing has been rumored to make me excited...send the FF home...NOW!!! Then we might get comic book looking, age appropriate FF...

First Class was all that and The Wolverine is actually better than some of Marvel Studios' films.

I'd like to see them all back if.....and this is a big if, Marvel Studios had it's film division quadruple in size so the output would remain as it is. Right now on a good year we'll get 4 Marvel films as we are soon to get in 2014, 2 MS films a Sony and a Fox. If they were big enough to keep up that kind of production schedule then I'd be all for it. They do the best quality wise anyway and it'd be real great to finally have a unified MarvelU that really looks like the comics version. But baring all that I'd say we've got it as good as we can have it right now with outside studios shouldering the load, even if I don't think their quality is as high as it should be.

Everything is fine where it is, although I would not be too surprised if Marvel decides to send the characters that they own to other Disney entities. They already started with Big Hero 6. Marvel Studios wasn't going to do anything with them, so Disney Animation said "we'll take them." Big Hero 6 becomes the first full length Disney animated movie based on Marvel Comics. Marvel Studios can do the same to the Runaways and Power Pack. I don't think either of them fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but both would be perfect for other Disney entities like Pixar to take over.

Disney could essentially have two Marvel Universes within it's own umbrella.

Personally I would like them to be under one roof just for the story potential and because the situation of some characters is very messy due to different elements owned by different studios. For example, does Xavin belong to Fox because he's a Super Skrull or does he belong to Disney because he made his debut in Runaways?

Marvel owning everything would clean things up a lot. If it was financially feasible, Disney should absolutely try to get those rights back. But I very much doubt it is feasible given how important those properties are to Fox and Sony.

In terms of quality, Fox has been handling the X-Men well lately so I can't complain there. First Class, in particular, I think was better than ANY MCU film.

Sony has not done nearly as well having not made a good superhero film since Spider-Man 2 many years ago. So they haven't exactly been doing their properties justice giving even more reason to want Marvel to have those rights.

To use a football analogy, Marvel is the Green Bay Packers. They are consistently good year after year, good enough to get into the playoffs where they normally get beat but once in awhile are capable of a championship.

Fox is the Denver Broncos. They were once great under the legendary John Elway (Bryan Singer), but then he left and then they were awful for a long time. Then they brought him back and they are a champion contender again.

Sony is the Dallas Cowboys. They were once the envy of the league and still have the biggest names, but years of mismanagement and meddling from upstairs have turned them into alsorans. Can still bring in the ratings, but quality has been missing for some time.

I doubt Fox and Sony are capable of anything great. I've certainly never seen them rise above "good enough",...EVER. I will say Sony has the best film(TASM, basically equal to the worst MCU films, TIH and IM3 - 7.5/10) but Fox has more tolerable films under their belt(they are more prolific than Sony, after all). But with the lone exception of TASM, there's not a Marvel film in their libraries that I'd rate above a 7/10. and the majority are in the below 6/10=rotten range. The sole thing they have had in their favor was that for years they had no real competition so folks settled for mediocre products.

They made X2, FC, and Spider Man 2, so they clearly are capable of greatness. I also find it amusing that people ***** about Fox/Sony "not respecting the source material" when they dare to change anything, but when Marvel does it, it's inspired thinking outside the box.

No, I'd definitely put X2 and SM 2 on the list of great films. In fact, both regularly show up on both critics and audience lists of the greatest superhero movies of all time. They're both in my top 8.

X2 & SM2 were great films, but they were also a long time ago in movie terms. It is very much a 'what have you done for me lately?' business. Fox actually has produced good X-Men films in recent years, so they have earned more leeway. Sony has had two bad Spider-Man films and two Ghost Rider abominations since SM2 almost a decade ago. If TASM2 doesn't substantially improve upon TASM, then I will lose practically all faith in Sony as a comic book film studio. At least until major changes are made at the executive level.

It's not a bad movie.

but I do hope ASM2 makes a few improvements.

Sony made a very good film,TASM. Not on level with TA or TDK but it's on the Top Ten CBM's as rated by Fans and the GA.

First Class is considered great and redeemed FOX. It's on the Top Ten on RT too.

Iron Man 3, while I did not like it is considered a very good film. Once again it's on RT's Top Ten

Clearly regardless of personal opinion, all three have made some great quality films lately.

I don't let critics or audience consensus tell me what quality is. I prefer to decide for myself. And none of those films ever reached above the level of a mild diversion for me. They were passable and not much more. I think too many around here have rose-colored nostalgic glasses on when they think of those films. I have no nostalgia for them. They weren't part of my childhood. I was well into my adult years when even the earliest of them came out.

The Spidey franchise has the problem of a mediocre reboot already, I fear audience will lose all interest if they had to watch the same old origin story again

Quite the opposite, FOX have had a turn around after Origins and X3. TASM also redeemed the Spider-Man franchise after SM3, I don't see Marvel Studios doing a reboot much differently.

Well, between the 2 origin films Spidey has there's not much left to cover with another one so I doubt it'd happen if MS got the rights back. They'd just probably TIH it to set up that it's a new continuity and then hit the ground running. The X-Men they would likely full on reboot with an origin story film though since there's loads to cover there that FOX has ignored.
