So goes the rumor, direct from Katzenberg himself.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has hinted that a fifth “Shrek” movie may be coming, four years after “Shrek Forever After” was released.

“We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest,” he told Fox Business Network in an interview scheduled to air Tuesday. “But I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series. We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.”

I just posted in your slightly newer thread I beat you to the punch by like 10 seconds. :funny:

I've always liked the series. I'd welcome another one. :yay:

I loved the first one, liked the second one, and did not care for part 3 or 4.

I got tired of it during 3 and haven't seen any of the others.

The never-ending string of Shrek sequels has actually ruined my enjoyment of the original. I loved that movie when it came out. Then it was like "Oh, another one, that's nice.... okay that's probably enough..... please stop..... why the **** are you going this to me?!.... a spinoff, really?"

Katzenburg needs to learn how to let things go as this series has been squeezed dry...
I would rather another Puss and Boots before a new Shrek movie.

I cannot imagine there was an overwhelming demand for another sequel.

I completely forgot it won an Oscar. I've been completely desensitized by the sequels.

If there's a franchise that should just stop and die already it's Ice Age. Shrek's films are usually on the very least entertaining.

Another one? The fourth one took a critical drubbing, with the main criticism being that the franchise was visibly exhausted and there was nothing really left in it. A fifth one would just reinforce that impression. What's left to tell? Unless they want to get into stories about Shrek's kids, but then it isn't about him anymore. They need to just drop it.

The 4th one had positive criticism, the 3rd film is the one that got most hate. If they wanted to make a 5th film either way, then i wonder why they didn't just do their original idea of having the 5th one being the final chapter. I thought that the Puss in Boots spin-off films were enough

But.. I thought the 4th one was called "The Final Chapter"?

It was "Forever After" but it was meant to be the final Chapter. I suspect Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy need pay checks so that's why we're getting it.
