Since we have Ray, and Walk the Line...

So would I, but what they're doing does sound interesting. Anyway, overall, I have mixed feelings about biopics. While I like watching the life stories of musicians I admire I don't like that many people, kids and teenagers mostly I'd imagine, will see said musician as the actor who plays them.

Well, I know a lot of kids who were turned on to Johnny Cash after Walk The Line. So in that aspect, the movies are a good thing.

We need a Springsteen Film..And a Jimi Hendrix.

Easily, the LED ZEPPELIN STORY

LedZeppo.jpg

Starring:

Heath Ledger as Robert Plant

LedZeppo-1.gif

Colin Hanks as Jimmy Page

LedZeppo-2.jpg

Jack Black as John Bonham

and Owen Wilson as John Paul Jones

LedZeppo-4.jpg

only that's based solely on looks as it would be pretty grueling to watch those guys fake British accents and even pretend to play any of their music.

Not a bad cast or idea.

john lennon/mark david chapman....though, wait till after chapman dies.

Ledger and Hanks could work, but Wilson and Black are way too comedic. Not to mention Black is too short for Bonham.

Kevin Roegele once had a great idea to do a Rashomon style Documentary about the whole Beatles "Paul is Dead" phenomenon

I'd like to see one about John Fahey, Roky Erickson, Faust, or Ross Bagdasarian.

I could go for that. I could actually see a straightforward narrative version of the Paul is Dead legend.

Where is a biopic for The Beatles?!

It'd be a pretty simple rise and fall story, really.

i knows hes not a musician, but i think james franco would play a great james dean.

Michael Jackson. Now THAT would be one weird film.

Seriously though, Cobain, Hendrix and Mercury.

has there been a frank biopic? he was the original rock star

There are Hendrix and Joplin biopics in the works. The Hendrix one will suck, though. It stars Andre 3000 and supposedly Tarrentino is really going to direct it.
Aw man, that is perfect! I thought I was the only one who Andree 3000 reminded of Jimi. Awesome casting there. Not too sure on Tarantino but I'm sure he'll do fine.

Personally I'd love to see a musical-type deal featuring there best songs, and illustrating a timeline of there music, along with the added drama of the band. I mean musicals are known for there very fluffy plots, I mean enough with the oscar-winning stuff. Just a nice and entertaining, escapist movie where for 90-120 minutes, you listen to the beatles music with some backstory.

They did that already. He was praised for it.

I don't think the true Beatles story is really escapist fare. I think, if done correctly, it could be more worthy of Oscars then Ray or Walk the Line.

The Smiths and Morrissey

smiths3b.jpg

  • The working class begginings
  • Friendship and platonic love-relationship with Johnny Marr
  • The drug problem of Andy Rourke
  • Morrissey's personality in general and ambigious sexuality
  • The split of the Smiths
  • Morrissey's solo career
  • Accusations of Racism
  • Leaving record label
  • Comeback with 'You Are The Quarry'

Unfortunately it would never happen...
