Hi all,

I recently got Skyrim and it has been freezing much too frequently for me to enjoy the game. My specs are as follows.

Intel 2 QuadCore Q8200 2.33 Ghz
4 GB RAM
EVGA 560 (non-Ti) 1 GB Geforce Card
Windows 7 64 bit operating system

I'm not sure if its my pc specs. I recently upgraded (clean installed) from XP to W7 64 bit. I got the EVGA card new, and have the latest drivers for it. I read around various forums that Skyrim is plagued with bugs too. But I'm really looking for clarification if its my PC or not.

I also tried turning v-sync off from nvidia panel, but it doesnt help either. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

No I haven't even applied the patch yet. Its freezing as it is. Could it be my card overheating? I tried msi afterburner to note down the highest temp, and my card would reach about 73'C max. With my old card that was normal under heavy loads.

How could you not have applied the patch if it's running through steam, which uses auto-patching?
The only way it wouldn't be patched is if you pirated it.

Yep, since there was no demo I had to try it this way. Could this be it? I was going to get it for PS3 but I heard it was having similar issues what with framerates and freezing, thus I decided to try it first on PC since I upgraded it. From what I was able to play, the game looks to be really good. But I'm in a tight spot, cause both sides seemed to be plagued with annoying bugs. Would you recommend PS3 version over PC? Especially if the freezing issue is attributable to the game and not my pc.

There is a lot more to the PC that what you listed.. Drivers, cooling and such.

Since this games works well with most people, I would say it was a PC issue.

Has never froze on me, run it maxed out.

AMD 3.5Ghz
16 Gigs of Ram
ATI Vid Card 1 gig.
Liquid cooling + 4 case fans. (CPU Temp 28 resting, 32-36 play Oblivion)
Win 7 64

Try it on a Core 2 Duo processed PC, some say it's better for games than Quad

I turned off my Antivirus so far so good. Also delete save files. Hope it helps.

Have you been using mods? I had some installed like armors and weapons. I noticed the game slowing down after a bit of installations.
