I have a soundcard that I just installed [it's a little old, but it works]. Put it in, get the drivers, everything sorted and ready to go! Except, I restart. And then Windows XP SP2 takes an extra five minutes to boot up. I've tried disabling the old sound card, having them both up, updating drivers and more. I can't figure out why it's taking so long to boot when I have this sound card set as default.

That's the driver. There is a pic attached to this post, as well.

HALP!!!

Yes. The machine boots fine if the card is disabled/uninstalled/not physically attached.

CMI9739 [Cmedia AC97 onboard] is the sound I use normally.

Card probably isn't compatible with something on your system (including possibly the OS) or could be trying to occupy port or IRQ space that is too close to or in the same spot as something already occupying those spaces. That's my best guess, anyway.

I know it's compatible, because I've used it before, with no problem. In the same PCI port, no less.

I did it so that I could stop having to move my machine to switch from headphones to speakers, and I've accepted that I can't do that anymore, but goddamnit, I refuse to give up on the problem.

It's crap like this that makes me appreciate my Macs even more. :D
