Just wondering what everyone thinks. Good? Bad? Potentially great storylines watching him deal with the situation, or completely un-nescessary?

Share your thoughts. :yay:

I think it's going to add to well-needed depth to Flash's character...

He's been in the books since Day 1, but has been minimably been involved since the 70's, with the rare exception of what Jenkins did with him... and having David return him to High School mentality seemed like a step backwards, so I hope we will see his character go forward and play a bigger role in Pete's life (as well as Spider-Man's).

:yay:

Yeah, It'll definately be more interesting than when he was a drooling vegetable, and more growth since, like TMOB said, Peter David wrote him back as the mean, big dumb jock. It can only be good.

I thought it was a great story, and could potentially be very interesting for the character. Can't wait to see him back in the fold.

Its always hard to see horrible things like this happen to beloved characters. I almost cried when joker paralyzed Barbara Gordon for life. I feel the same way with Flash. If this had happened to him during his "bully" years, i might not be feeling that bad but Flash has done a tremendous amount of growing since then and has become one of Peter's closest friends. I admit it could lead to interesting stories but i cant help but feel upset over it at the same time.

I just hope they don't go the "Spidey gets Reed to develop bionic legs for Flash and then he becomes some type of Speedster hero" schtick... :whatever:

I can see the bionic legs coming into play thanks to Spidey/Pete, but I hope they just make him walk normally (or some semblance thereof).

Exactly. I mean, Barbara Gordon became far more interesting as Oracle than she ever was as just another costumed athelete. Kudos to DC for having the stones not to offer up some "miracle cure", and instead running with the situation...and i hope Marvel does the same with Flash.

Um, i am torn on this one. HOnestly not sure how i feel.

On one hand, I admittedly do not like much of anything at all in this reboot, and it all feels "unimportant" because i know it will all be fixed back, in only a matter of time.

ON another hand...it COULD be interesting if handled correctly. (and he is not given some sort of mystical or bionic legs as others have stated) However, the way they're handling other things (ala JAckpot) or the reboot itself..again, i don't have much faith...BUT..it COULD be good...if followed up on and takne somewhere MEANINGFUL.

On another hand...why does Flash specifically always have to be the guy that something bad always happens to. Cliche?

I dunno. I am very torn on this issue from many angles.

Again, this is from an admittedly non-fan of most of this OMD/BND stuff there-in. BUt still, those are my thoughts, as honest as possible.

Karma.

But really...SO MANY of Pete's friends over the years have had lots of bad things happen to them. I don't really think it's more Flash, than say, Aunt May, MJ, JJJ, Gwen Stacy, Captain Stacy, Jean DeWolfe, etc

It's just part of the whole Parker gift/curse: Everyone in Pete's life suffers in one way or another due to Spider-Man. Though in this particular instance, aside from Flash being inspired by Spidey to be in the situation he found himself in, this situation was not a result of being connected to Pete/Spider-Man.

I love it as a character progression for Flash, and i liked it as a story overall.

This really furthers Flash into a more dimensional character then he was before.

I just look at it as more "shock" to the Spidey universe.

How so? So everyone has to stay in the SPidey norm for stories to progress? A character like Flash was bound to break out of his shell and get a story like this one day, and thank god they did it justice, now just hope they keep up with following the story up with other meaningful arc/storylines.

What ever happened to Flash being brain dead thanks to Norman?

thought the story was a pretty good parallel between Peter and Flash.
how Pete has indirectly motivated him through all his hardships was a nice touch.

I'm not too sure I'm going to like where this will lead...
I don't want him reduced to a pity character again...so we'll see.

This change was done long before OMD. Flash woke up during "The Other".

i know. just a little OMD humor. it works well at barmitzvahs and parties. ;) I'll even use that line when people bring up the "what happened to the spider-skeleton" subplot.
it was a freakin brilliant freaking story and its just left unresolved. now we just have to believe that the real spidey is dead since clones are supposed to dissipate. :o...

but to tell you the truth having flash just get better was ok, having him return to his big time bully phase was just stupid, and i love peter david. :csad:

It was a good story. It's an interesting new change to the status quo. Definite possibilities there.

I do find it amusing that the people who criticized BND for being unoriginal and regressive are opposed to this.

Honestly, this is the first impressive plot point I've heard about from BND. However, it's kind of bittersweet. Every major change for the last 20 years has been retconned, so who's to say this won't be looked at in two years and be washed away? Poor Flash....everything bad seems to happen to him.

I'm torn on this particular issue.

On one hand, the issue was one of the best I've read recently and easily the best to come out of BND. On the other hand I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in Marvel handling anything Spider-man related. Heh, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how Flash is handled next time he shows up.
