Thought i'd create the first reasonable thread here.

Miller is a very stylized guy with his own unique vision, will he stay true to Eisner's, or will he do the "Miller" version?

A little, but Frank Miller will focus more on what he wants...

They were VERY good friends, so I hope Miller can do it the Eisner way.

From what I've heard, Miller really looked up to Eisner, going as far as to say that he was one of Miller's few mentors. I think he's going to try to keep it as faithful to Eisner's original version as much as possible. Besides, Miller was directly inspired by it, so it's not like he's going to be completely changing his MO or anything.

I really hope he stays more with Eisner's vision than Miller's traditional one.

could we perhaps have some more information on this up and coming project, i haven't got the foggiest bit of knowledge on it...

I'm actually quite scared and it is based of comments Miller made months ago. I don't really have a lot of confidence in him making this movie. I think it will just be another Miller version of a character the vaguely resembles the original.

I haven't heard of any untoward comments.......I just worry that he will try to make it more of a "Frank Miller" project than a Will Eisner one.

No.

Yes.

Nes.

Super Nintendo was awesome.

edit: Which Spirit comic by Eisner is the essential one to read?

Yeah, that's exactly what I heard and what scared me.

I think you just need to look for any featuring the characters Octopus, Silk, or Floss....to get an idea of what they are like.

considering how much care went into re-creating "Sin City," he really owes it to Eisner to pay him the same courtesy -- even if he doesn't create it panel-by-panel.

Considering Will Eisner was the source for Miller's artwork, I doubt Miller would want to mess this film up. He has to much love for the source material and characters.

I hope it stays true to the original, though if changes are made I can cope rather quickly.

sounds reasonable.

I haven't ever read any spirit books, but I like his origin and all, and I'm looking forward to this movie. I love costumes, but I also like the simple look too like Spirit's mask and suit, just cool.

I have read almost all material available for the character. Stunning artwork with some fantastic story. I'm pumped that Miller will be doing the film! Woohoo! :wow:

The FAQ says that this will be done like the Sin City. Does that mean this is going to be almost black&white?

Not neccesarily, no. The straight-from-the-panel-digitial-realization is what I meant. Something more in tune with the comic era of Spirit.
