You are a mysogynist, a racist, and support rape...At least according to this woman, who's name I refuse to learn, and will from this point on be reffered to as "bat-s**t crazy feminazi." Oh yes, and no inter-racial relationships will ever work, because the ones she's seen didnt.

You know, I'm a real empathetic guy. I appreciate many varied perspectives... even ones I disagree with, I can usually understand how a person came to that conclusion. I was actually reading this with interest, because, honestly, some of the stuff in Firefly is kinda misogynistic... I was reading and empathizing and saying "Hnh. That's an interesting observation" until:

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Joss uses his own wife in this way. Expects her to clean up his emotional messes. Expects her to be there, eternally supportive, eternally subservient and grateful to him in all his manly glory. I hope the money is worth it, Mrs. Whedon. But somehow I doubt that it is. No amount of money can buy back wasted emotional resources.

Wow. When you decide to dig on someone's personal life that you know absolutely nothing about, and to do so "beyond the shadow of a doubt," at this point, you've crossed the line into 'having a different perspective' and demeaning the perspectives of others. Which I can't sign on for on any level.

As for interracial relationships... I think more interracial relationships would solve a good third of Western Society's social problems... seriously.

I'm a girl and I sat there and thought what ever to this crazy women didn't read it all she rants to much lol. I loved firefly was funny and good some people just are well...crazy lol and pick or try to start arguments on everything

Unless you would like to be angry, do not read the comments and responses. Its insane.

I'm curious, as I've never seen Firefly, has Whedon himself stated that he intended the show to be "feminist" at all? Or was he trying to just make an entertaining show?

I read it all and although I haven't watched the show before, It did sound like it had an agenda.

Fair enough, but I'm keeping my tone. I'm angry about violence against women and I have every right to be.

I feel awful for Joss Whedon's wife. From what I've read about him and the interviews I've watched, I'm fairly certain that he rapes his wife and abuses her in various other ways. I honestly can't think of anything worse than living with a man like Joss who thinks of women like the way he portrays in his tv shows. How awful. The comment about the money was meant to be about how I personally could see no benefit from being with a man like Joss OTHER than money. Joss uses and abuses her. Probably rapes her and thinks of women as ****es etc, etc. Obviously, Ms Whedon has her own reasons for staying. Fear, patriarchal concepts of love, etc. But I would argue that she gives everything and gets nothing. Money is the only concrete thing that she could possibly gain. But as I said money is worth nothing compared with self-integrity, self-esteem, love (sister/lesbian/gynaffectionate love) etc. So she still loses out. Poor woman.

I support women but not their choices. Choice for women is not the same as self-determiniation. I support women to become self-centering and self-determinining. I do not support their patriarchally constricted 'choices'.

It's one thing to attack his work, but a completely other to claim that the man rapes and abuses his wife.

Wow, a feminazi attacking what is probably the most feminist man in Hollywood.

Awesome.

Did you read about how Whedon's not really a feminist, but in actuality, a rapist/misogynist?

This woman reaches to far right off the bat by making a big thing out of Zoe calling Mal 'sir' all the time, Mal was the higher officer when they were in the military, that's where the 'sir' thing comes from. Anyone, male or female in the military would call a higher officer 'sir' or the female equivilant. Probably a hard habit to break, plus he's the captain of the ship, it's about respect, not being subservient.

"But as I said money is worth nothing compared with self-integrity, self-esteem, love (sister/lesbian/gynaffectionate love) etc. So she still loses out. Poor woman."

Don't know what gynaffectionate love is, but I'm willing to bet it's with a woman. I have no problem with gay or lesbian people, but seems weird that according to this woman, a woman can't love a man, only another woman and any woman that doesn't realize that misses out on love, plus can't have integrity or self-esteem. Weird.

I stopped reading after her summary of Firefly. She has an agenda and it's just not feminism.

hah, that's funny...I always thought he was gay. (no really)

Wow, she sounded just like Victoria, the leader of the Daughters of the Amazons from Y The Last Man.

Honestly, I stopped after she complained about Zoe calling Mal "sir". I could see it was just downhill from there.

I like that by the third entry she won't allow any posts by anyone who doesn't share her views. Shows her a great side of her personality, that only like minded opinions count.

Dude! Any disagreeing posts are "pro-prostitution" which, unlike in the real world, seems to include any time a woman gives ANY kind of emotional support without receiving it in return.

Man... all those foster mothers, prostituting themselves out to those misogynistic orphans! And getting paid for it! Dirty mothers...

I can't take it, dude... I'm going home.

Feminazis are the worst.

And any time a woman has sex with a man, he's raping her. It's ridiculous, the only part she found pro-woman in the show was when a woman was attacking a man.

She does now that you mention it.

In this scene Mal and Jayne are stowing away the cargo they just stole. Kaylee is chatting to them, happily. Jayne asks Mal to get Kaylee to stop being so cheerful. Mal replies, “Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.” Yes, that is an exact quote, “Sometimes you just wanna DUCT TAPE HER MOUTH and DUMP HER IN THE HOLD FOR A MONTH.”

She apparently doesn't know what jokes are.

People like this could find something massively offensive about a brick. She'll interpret anything she comes across within the lines of her own very warped world views. Anything that disagrees with that view is a rapist or supports rape. Bat-s*** crazy.

That chick was talking alot of trash about Whedon, but all I could hear from her was...
