I'm a big old school Nintendo fan, so series like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Punch Out have always been favorites. In the current generation Rainbow Six: Vegas, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2 have taken countless hours away with online play. I think my favorite type of game though is the Metroid-esque type, exploration and upgrade heavy, with a huge world that you need to keep going backtracking in. I love in those games finding that upgrade that allows you access to a previously unaccessible area. That and the collection heavy 3-D platformers like Mario and Banjo Kazooie. Those two genres always seem to pack in the gameplay and gametime, too many of the shooter games this gen have way too short single player stories.
