Something in another thread got me thinking... there's a common belief that your favorite game in a series is likely to be the first one you played. Of course that can't be 100% true, but I want to see how much truth there is in that idea.

So I want you to think of ten series you like that have at least three games in them and type out the first game you played in a series, and then your favorite right underneath it.

Of the 75 answers so far*, there were 19 where the first game was also the favorite. Not at all close to a majority or even really, but not an insignificant number either.

That isn't exactly the belief or the theory. I idea is on iteration. Better, more well crafted games being scored lower because they are "too similar" to a past title in the series, even though in many objective ways it is better.
