Songs that give you chills.

Dream On by Steve tyler (or Aerosmith, though Tyler wrote it). song gives me chills every time. it's just so powerful, not to mention that man's voice defies the laws of physics.

Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel

personification of Evil this theme represents song gives me the creeps!!

It's totally not my typical style of music, but I've recently heard "Africa" by Toto and Seals "kiss from a Rose" again after many years. Both songs make the hair on my arms stand up. The harmony in the chorus to Africa is stellar, and I just dig the vibe to Kiss from a rose.

Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt'

A Perfect Circle's cover of 'Imagine'

Gary Jules' cover of 'Mad World'

Moby's 'God moving over the face of water', 'When it's cold I'd like to die' and 'Everloving

Led Zepplin 'Stairway to Heaven'

Radiohead's 'Paranoid Android'

Phil Collin's 'In the Air tonight'

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 'Red Right Hand'

Guns n Roses 'November Rain'

Muse 'Bliss'

Pearl Jam 'Jeremy'

Eminem 'Stan'

DJ Unkle and Thom Yorke 'Rabbit in your headlights'

Rolling Stones 'Paint it Black'

Julie London 'Cry me a river'

Louie Armstrong 'What a wonderful world'

And I agree with the above poster about 'Kiss from a rose on the grave'

You can’t listen to this cover and tell me it doesn’t give you guys chills. These two guys have quite a few songs on youtube, and they’re all stellar.

OK, one song everybody should just try and listen to if they don't know it :

I'm a big 80s music and film music nut, so a lot of them send shivers down my spine but I'm not actually gonna bother making a list of them all.

Best song ever made :

God is an Astronaut - Suicide by Star.

I'm serious. Find the highest quality version out there, close your eyes, imagine yourself floating in space, play the track. You'll never come back from it.

The Alan Parsons Project - Old and Wise
The Arcade Fire - Cold Wind
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
NIN - The Day the Whole World Went Away
NIN - The Great Below
NIN - Ruiner
NIN - Beside You In Time

Also, a lot of songs that were part of movie soundtracks, whether they were actually created for the film or just used in it, like :

Moby - God Moving Over the Face of the Water (from Heat finale)
Lisa Gerrard and Hans Zimmer - Now we are free (from Gladiator)
Tyler Bates - Returns a King (from 300)
Clint Mansell - Death is the Road to Awe (from The Fountain)

and more recently :

Desire - Under Your Spell
College feat. Electric Youth - A Real Hero
Chromatics - Tick of the Clock

all from Drive

Philip Glass- Prophecies

Epic.

It's just a shame the song is so long, it's hard to find it in its complete form online. The above clip is ten minutes, but only encompasses about half of it.

Koyaanisqatsi is a great film for anyone who likes the association of music and pictures, the whole soundtrack is amazing, but Prophecies definitely is one of its highlights.

I couldn't help but notice we have a lot of songs we like in common JJJ's Ulcer (Paranoid Android, Stan, Bliss, Cash's Hurt and A Perfect Circle's Imagine, plus Moby's God Moving... which I already mentioned, and now Prophecies)

Great minds think alike. :yay:

To your NIN list, I'd also add 'Right where it belongs', which is very somber and haunting.

Ennio Morricone - Ecstacy of Gold

Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death

Debussy: Suite bergamasque - 3. Clair de lune
Gustav Holst - The Planets Op.32 Jupiter
Simple Minds - Theme For Great Cities
The Chameleons - Tears
Type O Negative - Everything Dies
Blind Guardian - War Of The Thrones (Piano)
Boa - Deeply
Splashdown - Ironspy

A Warm Place by NINE INCH NAILS

Definitely. I bought Downward Spiral when it first came out and to this day that song ALWAYS sends shivers up my spine. Such a great instrumental!

just a few songs that give me chills...

Why by Annie Lennox
Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen
Jesus Christ by Brand New
The Funeral by Band of Horses
Untitled #4 by Sigur Ros
Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen
One Step Closer by U2
Most of the Time by Bob Dylan
