Songs: The Original Vs. The Cover

Tainted Love:

Gloria Jones - Tainted Love (Original):

Soft Cell - Tainted Love:

Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love:

Milk Inc. - Tainted Love:

The Pussycat Dolls - Tainted Love:

Personally, the original and Soft Cell's cover are the best. Marilyn Manson's cover is OK only if you take the lyrics out. Milk Inc.'s techno cover is not my cup of tea, and The Pussycat Doll's cover just sucks. Sounds all wrong.

Are you joking. It's awful. The Who's version is so superior it's not even funny. There's so much more depth and emotion in it. Bizkit was an utter joke to begin with, and that cover just proves it. And they also cut out the bridge, which made the original. Please. Just. Stop.

I was kidding. Nobody likes Limp Bizkit. I posted that, because I knew you'd get mad.

I really liked Prince's cover of "I Can't Make You Love Me"by Bonnie Rait.I thought that was really well done.It seems like that song has been covered alot.
I also liked Gym Class Heroes' cover of Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys. It's not better than the Beach Boys version, but they did a good job imo.

Um, sorry. Lennon's version has far more warmth and he rocks the heck out of it during the solo. He really gets into the song and manages to reinvent it completely. Plus, and this may sound dumb, but I have a hard time disassociating King's version with that awful Sean Kingston song.

And here's my favorite cover of all time:

Song: Something

Original - The Beatles

Cover - Frank Sinatra

Thoughts?

Your bias is showing... yet again.

Um, okay. I can honestly say unbiasedly I prefer Lennon's. Whatever, if I played Freddie Mercury doing "Imagine" or "Instant Karma" you'd automically say Freddie did it better. I've heard both versions of "Stand By Me" numerous times and I can honestly say I prefer Lennon's.

No. Because Lennon owns Imagine.

Exit Music for a Film

Christopher O'Riley (live performance)

Here we'll debate on which version of a song is better. Now, I know, many people think: "The original is always the best!" But it's not always the case...

Like our first song, Mad World.

I'm definitely going with the cover. Discuss.
I'm actually a fan of both, and usually both are on my iPod.

Electronic fans should check out Stefan Anion's version. It's a free high quality download on his website. Based off the Jules version...

Rage is a decent band, but I can't believe how awful their version is. They completely raped the original.
