Sony striking out?

i'm so sick of people slinging mud at the ps3. maybe it doesn't have that many great games yet (although it does already have it's "killer app" with resistance) but it's a great system, and the games will come eventually.

anyways, good news about the awards. good for sony.

amen to that.

Maybe when people stop going "well I'll just wait for a pricedrop to buy it" and realize that a price drop isn't comming for a long, long time, it'll do better.

But don't hold your breath.

honestly i love the ps3, and i want sony to come out good in the end, yes it takes time, but i hope ps3's success will rise. cuz i really dont want a 360.

and price dosnt matter to me, i think i might buy that media version ps3 if its under 1500 and if it even comes out.

wow... what you just said has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

congrats.

I honestly never thought it was out of the fight in the first place . Grats to them on the awards tho.

Im hoping for the best for them too. I plan on buying a PS3 in fall of this year and hopefully they will have most of the kinks and bits fixxed and fleshed out by then

Wow. Learn to comprehend. You guys were saying that the PS3 wasn't out of the race yet, and that people are just constantly bashing it for this reason and that. I'm saying that until people get the "I'm not paying 600$ for this" or the "I'll buy it when they lower the price" mentality out of their heads, the PS3 will BOOM. But until then, it's going to continue to grow at a steady rate.

you are correct...it never was out of the fight...we just got a sh#t load of whiners who couldn't get one on release or can't afford one so they try to make it seem like it isn't worth getting to make themselves feel better...and than there are the x box fanboys...need i say more on that subject...

Yes, those damn Xbox fanboys.. outwitting you at every turn. They'll perish one day, don't distress! :woot:

if by "outwitting" you mean "being way more immature than" and "lacking civility compared to" than yes...i completely agree. but than again that goes for any video game fanboy in general really.

I have plenty of civility and I'd consider myself a Nintendo/Xbox fanboy. I only strike out when people make particularly ******ed statements in hopes of pissing people off. And yes, you are being outwitted by us, that's why you can't come up with a decent argument to defend Sony's BS.

i never recall discussing or even defending Sony's BS... which there is pleanty of.

Sony BSed alot about the PS3...no doubt. They didn't follow through with some aspects they originall boasted about. but it's still a terrific system.

but look...i can see this turning into a one sided debate already. you'll never agree with me 'cause, by your own admission, you are a Nintendo/Xbox fanboy...meaning you are close minded to the idea that anything but those systems are worth playing.

so feel free not to respond to this post..i really couldn't care less.

Not for the price range. It has HDMI where Xbox 360 doesn't, but also doesn't have near as good a Live service and is roughly equal everywhere else with architecture.

It would be a 'better' system if it was lower in price.

i've never used xbox's live service...but i have used PS3's and it works great. i have had no problems with it. have you used PS3's Live service? or are you just spouting fanboy crap?

it's price has nothing to do with how it preforms compared to other systems really (though if you want to get technical, a higher price would denote superiority), so your snide "better system" comment is out.

and keep in mind it is a very cheap Blue Ray disc player.

No universal friends list, as far as I know the PS3 marketplace doesn't have the option to download your favorite shows as well.. so there's something else. And the fact that the network crashed under the weight of a few thousand people awhile back.

So yes, I know what I'm talking about. PS3's live service is inferior by some margin.

Oh, actually it's still in. Because the PS3 offers little to nothing over the Xbox 360 besides HDMI cables in technical terms, but it's still $200 more. And all because of Blu-Ray which the machine didn't even need to begin with. So, yep, my comment stands as tall as ever.

I've said this once, and I'll say it again. Only a handful of people, if any, buy a ****ing video game console to watch Blu-Ray movies on a HDTV that they probably don't even have. You buy a VIDEO GAME console to play video games, not watch overpriced Blu-Ray movies or test out a new tech that Sony is pushing.

PS3 does have a friends list (not sure what you mean by "universal" though). an update is coming for downloading shows...and networks crash, especially new networks...just give it sometime, you watch.

i'm sure x box's network has crashed before.

lest we forget about the sixaxis controller, the better graphics that the 360, and the huge potential of the Cell Processor. and i can safely say i don't miss the rumble pack...the only time i ever noticed that thing anymore anyways was when i set it down on a table during a cinematic and it made a horrible rumbling noise against the table surface.

i've talked to many people who've overheard me talking about my PS3 and have come up and asked me about it because they were thinking about grabbing one just to use it as a Blu-Ray player and wanted to know how it preformed...so :oldrazz: to that comment.

Universal, as in you have the same friends list for every different game. That's what the Xbox 360 has, from what I've heard.. the PS3 has a friends list for each different game.

And actually, the XBL crashed only once, a few weeks ago. And that was because of a huge earthquake that messed with underwater fiber-optic lines. It took an act of nature to bring down XBL for a day.

Yes, because they're not buying it like the rest of us gamers ARE. They're buying it as a cheap solution to not being able to afford a $1000 BR-player. More than likely, they probably don't care much about the gaming part of the system.

But as a video game console, which the vast majority of people are buying it as, people don't care about Blu-Ray movies. They want to be able to play their games. As a video game console, it doesn't give enough for it's price. As a multimedia machine, I suppose it pulls it's weight for the price. But for the most part, it's supposed to be a console first, multi-media player second. Not the other way around.

PS3 has a universal friends list... it just isn't integrated into each game, so you'll have a seperate friends list for each game or whatever, ALLEDGEDLY being patched for Resistance, not sure about across the board.

yes...unfortunately your are correct about this facet. i agree with you on this, the price is rediculous and it should be about the games more than "look! i can put pictures on my game console from my camera!" which is a function that has no real use that i can think of right now..kind of stupid.

but, when it comes to games, it's still a terrific and solid game system and it's only going to get better with time. it just has some extra stuff that really only serves to up the price as far as being a game console.

and also: as the HD tsunami floods all video media and takes over completely, it'll be nice to know i have a Blu-Ray player for when i get a shiny new HD TV.

According to this article Sony's PlayStation 3 has been getting showered with awards, it makes you wonder is Sony's console really out of the fight? Or has a war just begun?

http://www.destructoid.com/sony-showered-with-awards-at-ces-29112.phtml

I think it's because the award that Sony's Playstation 3 was "showered" with was actually an award for the PS2 Dual Shock controller, which does not exist on the PS3?

"Congratulations, Sony, on what you USED to have!"
