What are you guys thoughts on Skywalker Sounds latest sound designed film Iron Man?
Any favorite sounds or sound moments? I liked the opening desert attack. Its sounds were intense.

Overall i thought it was good. Not over the top jaw dropping, but it did the job well.

But I'm still waiting for a film with a unique sound experience like nothing anyone has ever heard. Sound design these days is not as groundbreaking as it should be. Or unique.

I thought it was a darn good mix, as well as some pretty solid sound design. There was only one moment (when Jensen runs through the cave and encounters all of the fighters, and they all pull back their guns) that didn't impress me (I felt like I could picture the Foley artist creating it, so it kind of took me out of the movie).

I loved all of the different noises from the suit. Especially when he unleashes the repulsor rays in the MK III. The mix was very big and aggressive, not too many moments of subtlety, but it is a big summer blockbuster after all. Both Stark and Stein sounded awesome speaking from within their suits! And love the sound of the MK III breaking the sound barrier. I can't wait to rock this on my home system. Thank goodness Paramount is back on the Blu-Ray band wagon so we can hear it in proper 24 bit/48 khz TrueHD instead of 448k Dolby Digital. Can't wait!

Mostly I liked it, but one part of the mix was glaringly bad in the auditorium I was in. When Stark and Stane were talking under the big arc reactor the sound effect for the reactor was chewing up much of the frequency range of Jeff Bridges' voice. That muffled him a bit during the conversation and made him harder to understand than he should have been.

Yeah during the end I felt the mix was a little cluttered. When monger and iron man were talking while fighting i was straining to hear what they were saying. And the noises of the cars and stuff in the scene got in the way a bit also.

I think they should have backed down on the processing of their voice a bit so their dialog could be more understandable.
