South Park: The Game

It's getting great reviews but there are a few that say its riddled with bugs

So i WAS pumped for this, but after seeing gameplay footage of the turn-based combat, I'm questioning if I'll buy this. For those who are already playing it, does the combat get as tiresome/repetitive as it seems?

There are apparently a wide variety of enemies and summons, and special attacks you can do, and the fights themselves are full of humor. At the end of the day, though, it is a turn based RPG with a party system. It's more like Paper Mario with button timed button prompts to do your attacks. If that kind of thing turns you off enough to not experience the rest of the game, than that's unfortunate. It sounds like it's a big, really funny, well made rpg.

Not at all. It's very Paper Mario esque. You have time your button presses right or else you won't do any damage/defend. You get tons of weapons, modifers and group members so the different powers are always changing. If you're a South Park fan, buy this game

I consider myself a fan, I really dig their humor. But, I've missed out on the last three seasons or so, give or take. So I'm curious if I should try catching up with the stuff that's on Netflix before I jump in. And I like rpg's, and I like Obsidian. I think I'll take the dive eventually on this game.

Giantbomb gave it a 5/5, which was incredibly impressive to me. It sounds like it does the show justice, and sounds like a deep RPG. If I wasn't playing through games on my pile of shame at the moment, I probably would be picking it up today from all the good I'm hearing about it.

I played the tutorial level & LMFAO my god Im loving this game already

Gamereactor Sweden gave it a 6/10. Haven't read the actual Review though so I don't know about bugs

It's probably about the bugs
Kotaku didn't even really rate it yet, they gave it a "not yet" as to whether or not you should buy it, and said they'll update it when a patch comes out

Buggy releases are fairly common for Obsidian. Not really surprised this has a few issues.

I haven't run into a bug yet. So I'm not sure what happened to Kotaku. Just a phenomenal game

Yeah, as a fan of Obsidian I can say glitches pretty much come advertised with their games. It's not an excuse, but far from unexpected with them. Although, I never ran into a single glitch with Alpha Protocol.

I heard no mention of anything, either, when Alex was talking about the game this morning on Giantbomb.com, but that maybe have meant there was nothing game breaking.

I'm about half way through and have yet to really encounter a significant bug(s) (very minor glitches at best so far). With that said, I'm enjoying the **** out of this game. Even if this genre isn't your thing, this game is definitely for all South Park fans.

For all South Park fans and even if you're not, its a solid rpg

Nice. Yea im gonna have to get this at some point. I love the hell out of some South Park.

My biggest concern is that the game will feel like a chore to get through just to hear some South Park comedy. Im taking it thats not the case?

No not at all. Not once have I had a Pokemon moment where I am sick of fighting guys. They pace the fights fantastically. It's just overall a really fantastic game

Well, I went ahead and bought the game. While I still wish the fighting wasn't turn based (or at the least had a more organic beginning and end instead of fade to black) it's more fun than I expected. Glad I listened to you guys.

Yea I detest turn based combat but the fact the game kind of pokes fun at that is intriguing and it does seem a little more interactive than most turn based. I'm deff getting the game at some point. Too big a SP fan to pass it up

I never liked turn based combat, but this seems so fun that I'm really excited to play it, but I have AC: Black Flag and GTAV on the line waiting. I love SP, so I'll get it, for sure.

This game is my early game of the year contender. I love it

Pretty much how I feel. Sounds like it's worth it though.

When *****ebag [BLACKOUT]got crushed by his Dad's balls.[/BLACKOUT] :funny:

Funniest part of the game for me.

I haven't watched South Park in YEARS and even I'm having fun with this game. Making it an interactive episode / movie was pure genius!

I wonder if there will be a sequel ? I would like a game focusing on their superhero characters

^Best idea I heard today. Coon and his Friends:
