WTF! i've seen a few images of this show and it looks likea mixture of "The Batman" Teen Titans and some Disney channel bull*****. I hate to be negative but this show is gunna suck! But they will keep it on because lil kids will tune in. :cmad: I loved the Mtv show. Best animation, best reviews best actors and the best writing. Unfortunately Mtv debuted the show On Friday nights which is a horrible way to market anything MTV. Their audience is out on friday nights! If they had debued it on a wednesday it would probably still be on. I hope Im not the only one hoping Spectacular Spider-man is good.

I have to admit, the animation does put me off a bit. It looks too kid-friendly for me. However, I'm still holding out hope for this show (especially because of the foreshadowing of classic characters in the promo posters).

MTV's show wasn't that great, in my opinion. The animation only seemed to work for the action scenes, but nowhere else really. Plus, the villains weren't all that striking. Better marketing might've been key, but it wasn't all that great of a series on its own.

I like the look of it.
Maybe just because thats how I tend to draw, but I like it.

Shut up :(

Where are the images?

EDIT: Since the thread started didn't see fit to include a link.

Seeing it, I think it looks fantastic. It IS Spider-Man we're talking about here. The look is PERFECT for Spider-Man, and the animation is remarkably fluid. It's Spider-Man while he's in high school, so the lighter tone is a good fit. The character design is a lot more reminiscent of the comics than the 90s Fox show.

I thought it was great also.

I disliked the MTV version - it's nice to get back to some traditonal 2d animation.

Also nice to see that they're going with traditional villains too (unlike the MTV version)

Looking forward to it.

It does look a little goofy. But unlike Batman, Spidey can afford to have some goofyness. As long as his really psycho killer villains, like The Green Goblin and Venom, are taken dead seriously, then I'll be fine.

Shouldn't This Thread Be In Spider-world?

you just said the mtv spiderman was that good? really? did i miss something? the spiderman cartoon on fox kids was the best. you can watch em on tv links.

The art in it isnt as bad as the Batman, and the voice fits...I want to see the villain designs before I make any judgement though (they all better be wearing f**king shoes god damn it). And I think the main let down of the Batman is the rediculous cliche stories.

Well dont forget; they are first and foremost writing for kids.

That doesnt fly. Look at Batman: TAS. That worked just as well for kids and adults. Any series that doesnt strive for that isnt achieving it's potential, and should be looked down upon.

The animation looks great to me.

But I think it all comes down to the writing. The Batman was kinda shabby the first season and a half and then the quality of stories picked up and it became very watchable. If the stories are quality, I see no reason why Spec. Spidey can't be a big hit.

I like it. Can't wait. I liked the MTV show as well after I got used to it.

To be fair, you can't judge how good the writing will be yet. Even X-Men Evolution handled a lot of stories with a certain degree of depth that older audiences could appreciate.

It's a saturday morning cartoon, I personally don't mind. The whole point of Saturday morning tv for me is the fun of it. Besides at that hour in the morning I still am pretty tired so it doesn't really matter.

As long as they have Osborn be completely out of his mind and actually make an effort for him to be creepy and indimidating and scary to all the little kids, then I'll be happy.

Truth be told, if I were writing for a Spider-Man TV show, I'd partially model Norman's personality on Patrick Bateman. 'Course, the parents would never let that fly. But a man can dream.

I dont think that's even neccesary...modeling his personality on Norman Osborn is crazy enough...this is the guy who killed a reporter just for having suspicions that he might be the green goblin and dumped her body in the middle of a pond in central park...he threw a teenage girl off a bridge just to f**k with spider-mans head...he perpotrated the whole clone saga just to make spider-man, and his readers, suffer...the guy is sick enough already without running threw the hall of his apartment complex naked and coverd in blood with a chainsaw chasing after a hooker, or, *shudders* liking Whitney Houston

I just sort of meant in how they aproach his insanity. You know, that he's already cracking under the pressure to succeed and be noticed in the corperate world long before he gets an over dose of performance enhancers, and he slowly and subtley loses touch with reality as the series progresses. Not make him a direct clone of Bateman.

joker is correct

Word has it that Gwen Stacy is going to be a supporting character in the series. Perhaps they'll finally have the testicular fortitude for

I think it looks pretty good. I like the way Spider-Man looks. I like how they get both MJ and Gwen. And isn't there a guy that worked on Gargoyles working on this? :ww: :ww: :ww:
