The film starts with a funeral for Aunt May. As people start leaving, Peter stays, staring at Aunt May and Uncle Ben's graves side by side. As Max and Gwen Walk away, we see Max look back to Peter. We hear Peter give an inner monologue, and the camera spans back to reveal a blurred figure approach Peter and put a hand on his shoulder. The camera focuses and it's MJ. The two begin walking away as the monologue continues and it is soon after cut off by Mary-Jane going "Peter look! It's your parents!" Peter sees a grave shocked. It's his parents names. "Why didn't you tell me about this?" "I never knew." There is a silence as the two stare at the graves, which have probably the smallest gravestones. "Why didn't my Aunt and Uncle tell me." The camera zooms in on their names and then it fades to a google-like Daily Bugle search of their names; Richard and Mary Parker.
He finds an article titled "Russian Spies Exposed at Death". Mary Jane reads the article; Upon the arrival of their dead bodies from Russia, the FBI received enough evidence that Richard and Mary were helping a plot against the US government during the Cold War to feed information to the enemy from their Government Jobs. Not much information was released on the specifics of their employments but it was a position of high authority. Their accomplice, Sergei Kravinoff sold them out to the FBI after they left him to die in a burning warehouse back in his country." While MJ was reading this, flashes of the past are shown. Peter is frustrated. "Spies? My parents were spies!?" Mary Jane re-reads the part about their position in the Government. "They used to work for the Government. What do you think happened?" "I don't know but I need to talk with Captain Stacey about this and Kravinoff."
Cut to an elevator door opening, as a brutish man walks into a large round room. A man in a shadow speaks. "Sergei Kravinoff, the Hunter. Welcome to New York." "It's different than I thought it would be." "How so?" "Not many patriotic pigs running around waving flags." "Well you'll find that trend ended in the 80's." "So let's get down to business. The Spider and the Lizard are my targets. Can I get a de-breifing of sorts?" Hammerhead walks out of the shadow from the right of the big boss. He flicks a remote and a TV is lowered from the ceiling showing Spider-Man's fight with the Lizard. Kraven stands their mesmorized by their movements. "Kraven?" says Hammerhead. The big boss then speaks "He's studying."
The screen fades from the time square on the TV to the real time square where Max Dillon is working on the jumbotron. Max calls Peter's cell and no one picks up. Cut to Peter cell phone on his belt displaying 10 missed calls. He knocks on the door of the Connors residence as Doc Conners's wife opens the door. "Hi Peter." "Hello Mrs. Connors. May I come in?" Cut to a shot of Mrs. Connors bringing in two cups of tea. "So are you just here in a pitiful comfort or do you have a hidden agenda?" Peter chokes on the tea. "Sorry, it's hot. Actually I've been trying to find a way to help your husband. I have been rounding up the data I could from his lab but some things are missing and I figured he'd leave them at home incase he met a breakthrough in science to keep it private." "You're lucky he talks about you a lot, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this." Cut to her getting a box from inside a closet and handing it to Peter. "Be careful." The camera pans out the window to reveal the Lizard purched on a tree looking inside the house as Peter leaves. The Lizard jumps off and slithers into the darkness. (It's nighttime now)
Peter picks up his phone to see 18 missed calls. He calls Max back. "Hey." Cut to Max sitting on the jumbotron working out some perks. "Hey spidey!" "Yeah about that." "Listen Pete, your secret's safe with me." "Max, I barely even know you, and I'm supposed to trust you." "Pete I thought we were friends." "We are but I mean Gwen doesn't even know and I've known her for a few years now." "Why can't you just-" "Where are you now?" "On the Jumbotron." "I'm headed there now. Stay there." Peter gets home and drops off the box there. "Pete?" "Hey MJ, sorry I gotta go. I need to get this thing cleared up with Max before he does something that could ruin things with Spider-Man." "See ya."
Cut to eyes closed as they open. Kraven has finished his research on the arachnid and the reptile. Hammer head presses a button on the remote and the TV goes back up as a glass room emerges from the ground. Hammerhead pulls out a yellow vile. "What's that?" asks Kraven. "Enhancers. You'll need it." "No I won't." Kraven walks out the building. We hear the big boss, "I like this one."
Spider-Man land on the jumbotron beside Max who jumps at the surprise. "Hey." "Hey Pete." "Stop calling me Pete when I'm in costume! Come on man, it's not that hard." Max laughs, "Ok sorry, so why can't I know?" "It's not a matter of just you, it's everyone!" "What's so wrong about it?" "If people find out who I am, they could use people I know against me to get to me." "Like that's going to happen." "It already has. Three times." "Damn, you suck at keeping secrets Pe-Spider-Man. Besides, just look at me like your confident. A friend you can trust." The camera pans down to reveal Kraven getting out of a cab and smelling the ground. Cut back to the Jumbotron. "Fine, but you can't tell Gwen." "I wont, I pro-" Car horns are heard aswell as screeching breaks as we see Kravinoff is now in the middle of the road, looking up at the jumbotron. Max looks down, "What's going on?" "Hero time!" Peter extends his hand and a dart snaps into his forearm. "What the hell?" Spder-Man takes out the dart and looks at it as his vision starts to blur. Another three darts come flying up as it begins to rain. "Max get out of here." "You think I'd miss this?" "NOW!" Spider-Man swings off the jumbotron, webs Kraven in the face and lands behind Kravenoff.
"WOAH! What the hell have they been feeding you?" Kraven sturggling to get the web off his face swats blindly. "I'll crush you like a bug!" "You know, Spiders aren't actually bugs, they are-" Spider-Man is smacked as he flies back and hits a car. "Owe. I am off my game!" He begins seeing things in double. "Ok there tough guy, no one cuts off my banters!" Spider-Man webs to his sides and slings himself at one of the Kravinoff doubles his eyes are tricking him to see. He misses and goes flying into a window. "Puny Spider." Kraven takes Spider-Man, raps him to a grapper, and fires him at the jumbotron.
Max at the top of the jumbotron is looking down as he sees Spider-Man coming flying at him. "For the love of-" Spider-Man slams into the large screen as Max, who is holding onto wires is fried. "MAX!!!" Spider-Man shakes his head, grabs max and gets him to the sidewalk. He looks to a civilian. "Get a parimedic! And do NOT touch him!" The man looks at Dillon who's body is glowing while sparks run through him. Spider-Man webs Kraven and throws him against a parked car that flips on impact. "Now tell me, who sent you!" "Sergei Kravinoff answers to no one!" "Kravinoff?" Kraven slaps Spider-Man but this time his spider-sense allows him to jumped over it and land on his extended arm, snapping it. "ARGH!!!!!" "Now tell me Kravinoff, what do you know about Richard and Mary Parker?" "Parker? Never heard of-" Spider-Man squeezes his broken arm. "ARGH!!!!!! Ok, ok! I used to work with them." "You're lying!" "No I swear! I was working against the USSR." "So why'd you turn them in as Russian spies? ANSWER ME!" Kraven pulled out a knife and sliced Spider-Man's chest. "ARGH!" Captain Stacey runs in. "Put your hands up!" Kraven looks at Stacey's name tag. "Captain Stacey? I'll teach you to mess with the hunter!" Gwen runs out of the car, "DAD, NO!" "Dad?" Spider-Man jumps on Kravinoff's back who throws him into another car. Kravinoff grabs Gwen and grapples up a building, as the paremedics prop Dillon's bed up. He regains conscioussness to see Kraven holding Gwen high above the city. Max whispers. "Gwen?" Kraven yells from the top. "This one's for you Spider-Man!" He then drops her. Spider-Man gets up to see Gwen falling. He jumps into the air and slings towards her, just missing her hand. We hear Dillon yell, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Gwen's body lands infront of Captain Stacey, blood on his suit. Spider-Man webs after Kraven who is now jumping off of rooftops. We see Max's body going crazy with jolts of electricity.
Cut to Spider-Man chasing the hunter as a Police chopper's spotlight is on them. Spider-Man lands on Kraven, knocking him to the ground. "YOU KILLED HER!" He begins punching his face into the roof of the building as it begins cracking. He picks up the Hunter and throws him off the small building and then jumps after him. There is a group of police officers aiming their guns at Kraven. Spider-Man lands above the body, gloves stained with blood. The police chopper speaks to Spider-Man "Spider-Man, we've got the place completely surrounded. Put your hands on your head and kneel before the officers. We just need to ask you some questions." Spider-Man looks at Kraven who is taking light breaths. "Sorry officers, I can't do that." He webs the chopper as it lifts and then launches himself into the night sky. "We've lost him." Cut to Spider-Man perching on the side of a building. He takes off his mask, hiding his face in his arm. We see a tear fall onto the street. The tear is lost in the rain.
Fade to Kraven propped into an armoured police truck and then to Max pulled out of the armoured ambulace. We hear Peter talking, as these shots are shown, as well as shots of him going through the data of Connors's work and then we see that in full costume, he was talking to Max, sleeping. Marry Jane enters the room. "Hey Pete." Peter looks over to MJ, his eyes wattery. "It's my fault." "No, Pete, don't say that!" "I couldn't get to her in time." "Didn't you know there would be set backs?" "Not like this. I had the power to save her. I was responsible and she died on my watch. And what's worse, Kravinoff killed her." Marry Jane whent as white as a ghost. "Are you sure?" "Yes." "What do you plan on doing?" Peter walks to the window and slides it open. "Asking for help." He jumps out the window. Mary Jane looks at Dillon's shirt. The "Inc" from "Electro Inc" was burned off. Fade to black.
