I just read about the Spider-man musical, and I've gotta say that I'm excited.Being a fan of musicals I can only imagine how cool this will be.There are many skeptics out there about this, but this has some pretty big names attached to it.I mean with music by Bono and the Edge(from the amazing rock band U2) and it's being directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor(who directed the hit Lion King musical). Those three names right there make me believe that this could be good.Plus it says from the character descriptions that the singing is less on the broadway side and more Pop/Rock which fits Spidey well.

I was just wondering what anyone else thought of this? And is anyone planning on auditioning or sending in a resume(because I am)?

If they have Venom in it, singing a "I'll eat your brain" song, I'm so there.

Lets see.....Spider-Man+Musical+U2.......Nothing bad can come of this!

I'm preparing a resume to send in for the role of Peter.Although I have no professional acting experience I have done loads at school and the community.I've been told by many directors in the past that I'm a good actor and singer and should definitely consider doing it someday for a career.I'm only 16(will be 17 in 2 and a 1/2 weeks),but I've been told I look like Peter alot, and I fit the age requirements so I thought why not give it a shot.

I'll try to keep everyone posted on how well this works out for me.I know that the chances of me getting a call to go audition is slim, but you never know what could happen.

I'm thinking it would be tough to do the Gymnastics...

Here's a related Toronto Star article

thestar said:
It will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor with new music and lyrics by U2 frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge.

The musical will be the first time a Marvel Comics character has been the subject of a show on Broadway, the company said.

No opening date was announced, but Marvel said a reading would take place this summer.

"We are certain this project will delight fans of Spider-Man and new audiences alike," said David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, in a statement.

...

"The all-star creative team – led by Julie Taymor, Bono and The Edge – is second to none.''

Taymor won Tony Awards for her roles as director and costume designer of the Broadway hit The Lion King.
