Disney is already a huge conglomerate that owns way too much and made about $6 billion dollars this year alone, they don't need to buy Sony Pictures to own the film rights to Spider-Man, nobody wants to be a Disney loyalist against his/her will or intention.

Sony can reboot, their films will fail again, and then they will either make the deal again or something that will cost them film rights to the character and they'll still be able to make money, or they can thrive on their awkward shared universe that will finally see that awkward Kraven film happen and will piss some audience who wanted to see him originate from Wakanda.


@spider-neil MCU Spider-Man sucks. I don't want a Spider-Man who not only can't keep his identity secret from other heroes but also willingly share it with them to be part of events, even if I were looking forward to them. He ticks me in Homecoming, he irks me in Infinity war, he irks me in Endgame, and I'm back to wishing he never was part of the MCU even harder. I have always had my dislike for this take on the character.

Even FFH, would only yield what $300-$400M in profit?

My point is Marvel already has the prime cut of meat from Spider-Man.

Ppl are actually expecting Holland to not fullfill his contract and lose the chance to keep playing spiderman? And also lose yet another paycheck and leave Sony hanging with the Uncharted movie?

I'd say fanboys get carried away alot of the time, and the constant outrage stream whether its Pattinson being cast as Batman, Henry Cavill not returning to play Superman, and threats of boycotts if studios don't do what they want, etc, does get tiresome.

In this case, I understand the heartbreak and disappointment that comicbook fans and members of the GA about the whole situation, but some of the extreme outrage from some comicbook geeks is silly

I think in a third movie the villains will be either Kraven and Chameleon with Otto Octavius a supporting character or the Scorpion with Otto Octavius a supporting character (and maybe becoming the second villain), then the full Sinister Six in a fourth movie.

Once Tom and Feige commented on it, publicly, in that interview I'd say it's done. Why would Sony want to share any of the box office from the movie with Disney?

I think Sony and Disney are pretty much broken up at least through the filming of Spiderman 3.

You can never say never in Hollywood, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do eventually come back to the table and agree to terms beneficial to both sides not just to Disney.

I think giving up a portion of the licensing is gonna be something Disney would have to bend in on in order for Sony to want to give Disney anywhere close to what they want.

The idea of the co-financing between 25% which seems to be the claim that Disney offered first, to 30% which was the claim that Sony seemed to offer would, be another thing they could compromise.

I doubt Sony will give them any controlling interest in their spin off films unless Disney truly makes it worthit to Sony to do so.

I can see a soft reboot to retcon out the Far From Home mid-credits scene and the creative box that left present Spider-Man in.. I can't see how Sony can tell their story with the Disney poison pill of an outed Peter Parker sitting as number one concern. Presumably there will be no MCU help to protect, Aunt May, MJ, and Ned. from Peter Parker "truthers".

I can actually see alot of ways they could continue the FFH story minus Disney. The story that Feige set out , if anything lends itself to a sequel that wouldn't need to rely on MCU characters to be featured. The idea of MCU characters not being their to protect Peter's loved ones would be part of the danger that Peter would have to face, and if anything, it raises the stakes if Peter can't rely on the Avengers to save him.

It makes things much more compelling, and means that the threat is much greater if he has to face it alone. He has to basically become a man and stand on his own two feet without Happy, Tony, or Nick Fury to come with an assist.

The bigger problem would actually be the Stark tech stuff, though depending on what Sony can or can't do, they could have Peter abandon that suit because it can be tracked , and he's forced to make his own suit as he's done in other versions. They may even having Peter laying low depending on when the 3rd film begins.

Really, the biggest issue becomes whether the audience can accept that Thor, Black Panther, etc won't be showing up and that the film won't refer to other Marvel films. If the film is good enough, GA will go with it.

I think this is what its gonna be. They're not gonna soft reboot. They're gonna continue the story with the assumption that the audience knows about his MCU past and that he basically still lives in the MCU.

Of course, **************** doesn't say who they talked to on this just that it was the same sources that gave an early heads up on She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel before announced at D23.

Well... Now there's news of Apple perhaps buying out Sony so maybe Marvel will opt to wait for that instead as the rights to Spider-Man would revert in such an instance.

As many know, Apple is trying to start up a streaming service so buying content rights is probably something they may be looking into. Is this something Steve Jobs would approve of? I mean businesses are growing so big cell phone/technology wise they're overlapping into other industries...

In any case, regardless of if Apple purchases Sony I see Marvel Studios waiting things out regardless as they've got so much at the moment. Also, since Venom 2 is supposedly going to begin production soon Marvel may just opt to start negotiations mid-production process at this point even if did accept Sony's rumored most recent proposal.

This is fantastic news. We've at least got 3-5 more years of MCU Spider-Man. Also, considering that Apple/Amazon could purchase Sony in the coming years. Spider-Man might be there even longer.
