It was real. it was his 4th or 5th image.

The question is though why did he delete the post?
He might have just revealed that Sony and the MCU is considering a live-action Spider-Verse with Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Something they might have wanted to keep in the dark for the time being.

it does seem like someone told him to take that down. i can't imagine why he would have deleted it himself. so maybe you are right.

Found the original manip through image search, but only in a random pics site:

I feel like we're lost a bit in semantics here. Whether he's playing the same version of Electro that appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or a new one, I think it's pretty much a given it has something to with multiverse and that they wouldn't have hired him of all people if there wasn't even a remote connection to it.

I feel like not many spidey fans like the holland movies or character. I think mcu fans or general audiences like him but spidey fans seem to hate him (e.g., look at the outrage with insomniac having the new peter look somewhat like holland)

Yea no, get out of here with that fanboy nonsense. I've been reading Spider-Man comics for over 30 years and been visiting this site back when it was called Spider-Man Hype. Despite some of my issues with the series, I still love the Raimi movies. No the MCU movies are not perfect but personally speaking, Holland is my favorite live action version of the character. He may not be everyone's favorite and that's totally fine, but don't act like "true" spider-man fans hate him or some other nonsense.

FFH made a billion dollars. Highest grossing Spidey movie. People love MCU Spider-Man. It isn't really even a debate
That movie did come off endgame months before which is the biggest movie of all time. Look at iron man 3 after avengers.

I think the MCU has helped spidey more than anything. I think main stream audience like it and watch it because it is MCU (look at captain marvel). But fans of spidey dont like it since it brutally butchers the character in everyway.

Insomniac spidey showed exactly what is wrong with MCU spidey. It shows what the character could be. What he should be. That game is like the biggest ps4 game. Then they changed his face that looks like tom holland and everyone flipped out. Look at the comments (everyone cant stand holland).

Like I said, his last movie is the highest grossing Spider-Man film ever. Clearly he is beloved by the audience. It is not even a debate worth having.

Yeah, no. Holland is very popular amongst fans and non fans. I have been on here since Spider-Man hype amigo (lurked before I joined). I have seen people react to every Spider-Man film. Holland is VERY popular. You're letting personal bias cloud you here.

This would indicate a Spiderverse direction more. Hoping that is not the direction, though. My interest level would drop heavily. I would rather they table the Spiderverse for later and build toward it. This feels rushed and very....Sony in a bad way

We can't say. Like I posted earlier, we can't assume because we don't know exactly how the puzzle pieces fit or how big of a piece of the multiverse will be established in other shows or movies. Release dates will continually shift during pandemic, nothing is in stone. Bond today as an example.

Pandemic also gave studios more time to plan pre-production, rewrite,-alter script, refine ideas during production shutdowns, So Spider-Man 3 could now have more multiverse elements or stronger connections to WV, Strange one way or another, either through swapping dates or making the need to do so not important due to alterations. Also remember I posted about Lord and Miller tweeting about pitching live-action Spider-verse film to Sony who said too soon...So opposite of rushed. Chances are very very strong that creators on animated classic Spider-verse will be involved in the film. More good news. Evidence is pointing toward this outcome more and more daily.

Out of the three current spidey media: he is probably third.

1. Insomniac
2. Into spider-verse
3. MCU

I dont see how that can be an argument. I couldnt care less for the MCU spidey. I tried to like him but they went way to iron man and kiddy for me. No weight or emotions just have “fun”.

Playing insomniac spidey was enthralling. By far the best spidey and its not even close. Going from the MCU to that is night and day. Then spider-verse came out and everyone lost their minds on how good it was. Made no money (general audience dont care) but spidey fans did see it and loved it.

I think if you made a poll for the forum: rank what you want next? Insomniac spidey 2, spider-verse sequel, and mcu spidey 3. I think that my above ranking would be correct.

Yeah, I ain't optimistic about the outcome. If you are, that's cool. Like I said before, no one has to agree with me. I just don't have interest in this concept for the 3rd movie.

Even if I agreed with the notion he was 3rd on this list, he is still loved. Regardless if he is 1-3 on that poll. All those versions are well liked by the audience. Being hypothetically 3rd in this poll doesn't change that.

I can guarantee you Garfield would be much lower than Holland though.

If you bring anyone back, Jamie should be last on the list and Hugh Jackman is first one the list. Foxx is a killer actor but his Electro was horrible. Glad to hear he won’t be blue this time though and I think he can give a good performance with a better script.

I want Hugh as the MCU Wolverine. The time is right. Nobody else could do it better

I'm pretty sure Hugh Jackman is done for good. Logan was his swan song for the character and I don't think he'd be interesting in coming back.

If they're going for a different design I think that indicates that it's a new interpretation of Electro.

I'll reserve judgement for when we see more, but I was hoping for a Kraven/Scorpion combo and I could have sworn that was the rumour a few months back. I wonder if the pandemic made them switch gears and want somehting "bigger" to make up for lost revenue.

Kraven's too busy getting his own movie. :o

Whats interesting to question is what are they planning to do with the multiverse? i have heard speculation thats probably accurate that Wandavision shows Wanda completely messing up the multiverse. And if Spider-man 3 does come out before Doctor Strange 2, will Spider-man see the result of the messed up multiverse? obviously being between Wandavision and Doctor strange 2.

Say Doctor strange job is to fix the multiverse... then yeah if you are gonna do a spiderverse movie... its probably the right time.

I don't think the FF need an explanation on how they get into the MCU. They were there, didn't have powers yet. Easy. The X-Men I see other avenues than MULTIVERSE!!! We have the Celestial, the snap, etc.

I find blaming everything on MULTIVERSE to be lazy writing

I'm excited about Electro coming back and Foxx is a good actor. I think his IG post was just random fan-art. I don't think they're going the multiverse/Spiderverse route...yet. I'm glad it'll be a new design too. I'm expecting some sort of mix between these two designs. I don't think his mask would work in live action (It's not the same as Mysterio's fishbowl)

I'm hoping Scorpion also shows up in this, with JJJ presumably having a bigger role again in a Spidey movie it seems like a perfect time to have him fund the creation of a superpowered being to take on Spider-Man only for it to turn out horrible. We haven't really seen that side of JJJ on screen yet. But it does make it a bit harder to do that when Gargan is already a criminal behind bars and not the PI that makes the original concept fly.

Yeah, they more or less went with this version of Gargan...

I wouldnt think this list is accurate now. I think Insomniac is crashing hard and burning. These developers lost a large chunk of audience and alienated a ton more. If new Peter model is in Miles Morales, review bombing is possible. New model in sequel, review bomb is more certain. It was my favorite Spider-Man outside of the comics, wonderful experience. Now I hate the franchise by careless impulses and hollow excuses on trumped up charges. Also now because Tom Holland fans were brought into it, even though if model looked like Maguire, Garfied or Peter B Parker from Spider-Verse, the reaction would be the same. Now many of his fans will likely review bomb. Most important though is I think sales will suffer because game experience and connection has been rewritten moving forward. I know "it's just a game"is convienient deflection, but then why work so hard on building connection with gamers-fans if you just toss aside aspect in future stories.
