I don't see this going any other way but the multiverse angle

I'm excited about Electro coming back and Foxx is a good actor. I think his IG post was just random fan-art.
I'm sorry, but I still don't get people making this argument. You're telling me that out of all the other ASM2 Electro pics or fan-art he could have chosen, that he apparently chose to include one that just happened to feature three certain live-action Spider-Men together which was then promptly deleted and not find that just the slightest bit suspicious?

I could be wrong, and if in the future Sony reveals that they have no plans to build towards a live-action Spider-Verse I'll gladly admit to it, but right now I can't suspend my disbelief in what happened here. There's just so many questions raised.

I think so many here are overdoing it with their worry about the inclusion of Jaime Foxx as Electro. Feige doesn't like Amazing Spider-Man 2 cause it has too much back and forth of the promise and it makes Peter immature and irresponsible, and I think this is a distilled version of what he said about why he offered to rewrite the script and changes he wanted to make to help improve it.

Personally; I won't expect the Multiverse of Madness to immediately make the second third Spider-Man movie a dimensional crossover thing because of the aforementioned reason, and you fellas already mentioned that this Electro will look and feel different, so he won't be the caged for half of his time in power and then dead or dispersed near the end of the movie.
Unless Feige and group personally and officially confirm they will make that move I see people show concern toward here.

I want him to look like this:

XWYAjngNoEwQSNK-800x450-noPad.jpg

He needs that lightning mask. And don't make him a Spider-Man-loving nerd in his alter ego. He needs to be just a criminal.

What Garfield fought was just some generic electric guy with a hoodie. Could even have been a distant relative of Tim Story's Dr Doom who was also an electric guy with a hoodie.

Ehhhh, I don't want them to do the exact lightning mask. Would look really silly imo. Something like this recent BossLogic manip would be cool:

EjX9bJdUcAARBOY

And yellow lightning is a must.

I dunno. i think many might be in denial about it. Jamie Foxx as electro is not quite JK Simmons when it comes to showing up and people being like AHHHH its him from those other movies!

Personally i don't care that he said he is different. maybe that was Jamie Foxx's ask for coming back that the character would look a certain way and they said sure. and if he changes from blue to yellow... i actually think thats plausible upgrade for a character who is covered in electricity. you could very easily explain why he is yellow now.

Ignoring the fanart he posted, its also coming out in between the period of Wandavision and Doctor strange 2. which would be a really "strange" coincidence going by the idea that the multiverse might be slightly broken after Wandavision

And yeah i think they would use Spiderman 3 for a multiverse film. Marvel do not take their time with alot of things. they didn't with planet hulk in Thor 3, so they can certainly make it work in Spider-man 3, even if people wished a whole film was made especially for it rather than the 3rd film that they already thought had a story going on.

Hearing about all this reminds me of when Tom got asked the question during press for FFH, he kind of avoided the question...could mean something, could mean nothing so who knows lol. Just find it interesting.

I have no doubt that idea itself is being discussed or has been discussed judging by Tom Holland's reaction there.

I don't like that the same actor will be playing Electro. TASM movies weren't good so they shouldn't remind people about them. Also they really should leave the multiverse stuff out of the live-action movies. I don't think most people want Spider-Man movies like that.

I remember that vid circulating last year. I'm sure at the very least this will have some elements of the multiverse. However if Electro is being build from the ground up, I hope they take elements from Jaime Foxx's performance in Baby Driver. He played a pretty convincing psychopath in that movie and that's the type of edge the character will need to erase the silly performance from ASM2.

I don't think Electro will get that much development to be built from the ground up. lets be honest, if they are doing a Spiderverse film, then there are more villains coming, there won't be a huge amount on just Electro. which also makes sense giving that i doubt Spider-man 3 will just be to have a new take on electro as main villain.

As for whether an audience will be interested... course they will. this would make bank and they know it.

I imagine though that in terms of who they will bring back. it may depend on real time. Toby and andrew would be older spider-men at this point. you can't really set it at a point if certain villains are totally 100% dead. Electro and Doc Ock i think you could come up with a way that they survived.

You would be very surprised to learn the opposite then, at the very least in terms of fans.

With how FFH turned out, I had little interest in the third installment - All of this multiverse talk is getting me so hyped now.

I just hope they don't do anything to dramatically change the story in Raimi's trilogy (e.g. having Doc Ock survive) without at least consulting him.

Given that Raimi is directing Multiverse Of Madness, and if Sony and the MCU are truly considering doing a live-action Spider-Verse in the future, I'm sure Feige would at least talk with him about it.

There are many who want that but I'm pretty sure most fans would like to see more normal Spider-Man movies with serious stories. General public too. I actually think Into the Spider-Verse would have done more money if it didnt have multiverse story.

The whole Spiderverse crap is the new hot thing. Doing something with it like Into the Spiderverse is cool, but I do hate that it is starting to overtly dominate EVERYTHING Spider-Man. I just saw this story in cartoon form very recently. I don't need it again so soon after.

We have had many spider-man movies... but we haven't had a combined spider-man movie. you say the audience would prefer a regular spider-man movie... id say the gimmick would probably be cooler for them.

...yeah, no. Pretty sure that wasn't the reason.

Okay, I really don't mean to be mean here, but I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread has already gotten the point that you're not fond of a live-action Spider-Verse happening. You don't need to keep repeating yourself over and over again. :/

That being said, I do agree in that it's one of the reasons why I really dislike the current Spider-Man cartoon.

I am going to be blunt here: This forum is for all fans and opinions. Not to just collectively salivate. So, I will post as I please. You are just going to have to deal with it.

I'm aware. Which is why I also have the liberty to point out whenever I personally feel your posts are becoming repetitive, regardless of what opinion you might hold.

No one has to agree with me. If you don't like what I have to say, then ignore me. I do not care if you like or agree with me. I will comment when I like and I don't need your approval, thank you very much

So, why don't we keep talking about the movie and stop trying to push opinions we don't like out of the forum, shall we?

I wasn't asking for your approval, but I agree.

I wonder how MCU Electro will be different personality and backstory wise.

I’d be very surprised if Foxx’s Electro is from the ASM universe rather than being an MCU version played by the same actor. I don’t doubt Sony want to build towards a Spiderverse story; I do doubt this is how they intend to do it.

If its multiverse. then there may not be much change at all. even if he is slightly defined personality wise.

If you have several other villain. you won't put too much effort into one thats already been used in another film.

Thats the logic that fans sadly mistake. the whole you can't do it yet thing. the whole they won't do it yet thing. when they have jumped into many things that fans would say they can't do YET!
