This is from the same guy(s) who apparently revealed details about God of War IV taking place in Norse mythology, among other stuff.

It's been too long since last leak. Here's one.
Sony is working at "Untitled Spiderman PS4 Project". Trailer incoming (E3 2016?).

There are also rumors about this being Sucker Punch's next project (the team behind the inFamous titles).

What do you think? Great if true, if you ask me!

Hmm. This would be an exclusive then, eh? Could be great. If it is indeed being done by Sucker Punch.. We know it will be good.

Don't you get my hopes up. Spider-Man done by Sucker Punch would be bloody amazing.

hope this is true. rather have this as a PS4 exclusive from Sucker Punch vs a ****** movie-tie in that's multiplat.

but isn't Activision the publisher of Spidey titles? did they lose the rights?

also, if Sony is indeed working on this as a PS4 exclusive, then I wouldn't be surprised to see some VR features with it.

Activsion lost the rights.

Some news sites are reporting about the rumored Spider-Man game, if you google "Spider-Man game" for news at Google.

I'm not sure about the deal with Activision though.

Activsion lost the rights.

ah, thanks.

then I hope this is true and Sony makes this with Sucker Punch.

wonder if it will still be a movie tie-in with the new film next year or a separate story?

I thought Activision had the movie tie in rights only nowadays. Didn't know they had lost the license fully. Glad news.

I saw this like 2 days ago and I really hope it is true and not a VR game. Spider man is my favorite superhero with batman being a close second and batman now has the best games in the arkham trilogy and the best movies in the dark knight trilogy. Its time for spider man to get a great game again. The last good spider man game was in 2010 with shattered dimensions over 5 years ago, and the last great spider man game was ultimate spider man game back in 2005 so over 10 years ago. Surprised to hear that Activison may not have the rights any more and I was also kind of surprised that we didn't get a spider man game last year because for a while it was like spider man had become all most a yearly franchise.

I think we need a link to a source about Activision losing the rights to Spider-Man. Last I heard they had the rights up until 2017, and I never read anything about them losing them or giving them up early. Googling around I'm not finding anything to back up this claim.

Besides, even if they did lose or give up the rights, it would revert to Disney/Marvel, not Sony. So really this rumor doesn't make any sense in that regard either, unless it's a joint venture between Sony and Disney Interactive, or alternatively a joit venture between Activision and Sony, but that seems even less likely.

It could easily be a join venture. It may have been part of the deal with Sony/Disney when Sony allowed Spidey in the MCU.

It's more possible than Sony and Activision and all, but Disney doesn't have any interest in AAA gaming. We also don't know for sure that Activision has lost the rights, there's no source for that as far as I can tell.

you don't consider lego games AAA?

anyways i don't think i ever got to play a spiderman game but yeah, a sucker punch done one would be pretty dope. they cranked goodass graphics outta their Ps4 games too.

hopefully there's a game in time for the next movie. But the game should be playable with an eye toward being its own adventure, not an extension of whatever's going on in the movie (and thus probably limited by the movie plot as well)

Possible Spider-Man game, possible Crash game, possible God of War game...
Rumors, rumors everywhere. If all of that is announced at E3, my heart might explode.

mine might implode when the Ps4K is inevitably announced.

Well, I still didn't buy my PS4 and I was planning to do it next July. Now with the Neo coming, I'll just get that instead. So I'm glad I waited.

Marvel have actually said that they've started to aim at AAA console titles. If I remember correctly, it was around the time Telltale Games announced that they're working on a Marvel title. I'll try to find the source but I'm honestly pretty bad at that when it comes to old articles.

The same source that I quoted in the first post is the same source that revealed details about God of War IV. Apparently, the official site shut down after that. But there have been leaked concept art of God of War IV that looks legit. I haven't heard any recent Crash Bandicoot rumors though.

I'll try to find where I read this, but there's more to this rumor than just the leaker's word for it. I think this rumor originated because of a guy's resumé.

They should make the next Spiderman game in the same vein as Spiderman 2000 on PS1.

Don't adapt the movies, adapt the comics. Do what WB did with Arkham and don't limit themselves with adapting a director's vision, but use the entire history of the character as their palette.

I completely agree! Film tie ins are pointless and seldom any good.

No really, no. They are done on relatively small budgets and rely heavily on reusing assests game to game.

I hope it comes to pass, but in the end, Disney owns Marvel and the amount of freedom they have in games hasn't really been proven yet. Disney let's Marvel have a lot of leeway with movies because the brand was proven. Games, especially AAA games, have been a losing thing for Disney in the past. I really hope they let Marvel off the leash, but I'm not super optimistic based on how their input has been since the acquisition.

If I remember correctly Activision don't own the rights to Spider-Man games not related to movies.

Friend or Foe, Web of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time were all Spider-Man games by Activision that wasn't related to the movie. The only indication that they've lost non-movie rights is that several of their Spider-Man games have been delisted, but considering how no one else has made any Spider-Man games (outside his appearance in general Marvel games) means that they probably at least have some type of block on the IP being used without their consent for an all encompassing Spider-Man game.

You make good points Tron Bonne, and I think it's fair to not get any hopes up yet given that this is only a rumor originating from an actor's resumé. Let's see what happens. I hope for the best, Sucker Punch developing it or not.

To add to your points, I think I've seen Shattered Dimensions and Deadpool up for purchase again at PSN. So you might be right. Let's see what happens!
