Spider-Man (PS4)

Ok so they could do the same thing with Spider-Man right?

Assuming they have the rights to license it out, absolutely. Activision has held the rights to Spider-Man in video games(at least some rights). So if they no longer have those rights then yea Disney is free to license said rights out to anyone. Or maybe there's some loophole that we don't know about.

IIRC Activision only got the rights to make movie tie-ins until 2017. They lost the comic rights in 2014.

That's never been confirmed. In fact, Acti released a remastered version of Deadpool on PS4/Xbone recently which directly contradicts this article. People have speculated this to be the case due to the delisting of Spider-Man games not based on films, but no one knows for sure.

there have been marvel movies coming out every year but activision haven't made any tie in games lately. so i think this is part of the movie deal.

I like the idea of having the writers of "The Spectacular Spider-Man" help pen a Spider-Man game. Or at least be consultants on the property. SuckerPunch, if they are in fact the ones developing this game, have an outstanding track record. They release only top notch products. (My opinion of course)

I think they have a passion for comic books and would do Spider-Man the fan service he has so desperately been lacking since Spider-Man 2: The Game.

Well I don't think they have the rights to the characters, just Spider-Man and maybe a few others. And they did put out a game for the last Spidey film.

That was the only one iirc. But their right to do that expires next year

I'd love to see a Greg Weisman project I'd be actually interested in. I don't care about World of Warcraft and Nick Jr. shows, and some of his recent stuff either ended (Star Wars Kanan) or didn't sell well (Starbrand & Nightmask, Rain of the Ghosts).

I'm not too familiar with sucker punch, but I enjoyed Infamous Second Son. Here's hoping they understand your bolded part. I remember being in college and just in awe at how awesome SM2 was. My roommates and I (if we weren't playing Smash Bros) spent many nights watching each other play and just having a blast swinging around the city. No other game has come close to that level of fun and mechanics.

Not even close, indeed. All I ask, from whoever is doing it, is to get the web-swinging right. And by that I mean copy what SM2 did. That was freaking perfect.

It's curious how they got it right on the first time. But then, never as good.

They can do a lot better than SM2. The animations and physics of that system leave a lot to be desired. Sucker Punch excels at movement. If they are making s SM game, if nothing else, it'll feature the wall crawlers best web swinging in any game he's been in.

I liked the new mechanic from the ASM games where you could select an area and automatically get there. I think there's some promising stuff you could do by modifying that (ie: improving travel animations and logic, and not switching to first person view; it breaks up the momentum) and combining it with a more advanced swinging mechanic.

Another thing I really liked about the SM2 game was your ability to do tricks while falling through the air; it'd be cool to have that come back.

the biggest issue i would say i had with infamous second son was the length. as a video game i think with everything else they did a pretty good job.

I honestly couldn't care less about physics while I was web-swinging in that game. But of course, with the tech and resources they have today, then can make it even better. If they can get it to be at least as fun, I'm in.

What I fear is if they make it worse. If SP really is doing it, then I'll be a lot less worried, but the web-swing to me is a key component in the game they simply can't get wrong.

I've imagined a Spider-Man game by SuckerPunch with a similar control scheme for ever.

Picture web physics that are just on point, and holding R1 lets you aim Spidey's hand and shoot that web where ever you can aim it, clicking the stick to alternate hands and putting the web exactly where you want.

Maybe it would be a little complicated to pull off in a frantic chase sequence, but there could also be a more streamlined way to swing about. I envision it as similar to the web rush kind of...I think it would be so neat after a control scheme that has been virtually the same since PlayStation 2.

I didn't like the main character much.. I feel he was built to be a "bad guy." I just feel. His evil ending is more in line with his character. I also didn't like that the coolest power was held off for the end.

all things considered, the game could have been better, including the protagonist, but overall i think they did a good job. among the issues of the game though, what i was saying was that the length was the main one.

I felt the opposite. His good stuff felt more in line to me and his evil ending felt over-the-top to fit him. I don't even think SP did much for an evil path, considering how [BLACKOUT]the scene where his brother dies is the same in both versions[/BLACKOUT].

I don't think that says anything more than he enjoyed the film and watched it again, like many fans do.

Still though, it's better than nothing! :) Also, I've heard that there are plenty of Spider-Man fans at Sucker Punch and that inFamous gameplay took some inspiration from Spider-Man 2, so there's that! ;)

just.....need......confirmation.......soon.........meow.

That "because...reasons!" is totally suspicious though!
