I'd probably get the VR headset just to play HL:Alyx.

Steam Machine has no use for me (or you ), but it does look like a nice SFF PC with Linux/SteamOS.

So what's going to hurt this is the inability to play multiplayer online games due to anti-cheat and developers refusing to support Linux or Proton.
